(Now I know even more, why Nokia should abandon their website-flashy-flashy policy, btw.) But there still is a bug in the procedure and I'm not sure, if my order is actually valid. In case that there is indeed a problem with the codes, we'll have to find out how this mess could have happened, make up our minds what to do about it and not whine. When I called Nokia from work, a person from Nokia told me that it's unsure when the code will be activated and as I'm an unbeliever, the 1st thing at home is trying the discount code - and it works!!??
I don't read the newest postings of this thread before I ordered for full price discount too!? ... good or bad? :( We'll see. I believe everything if I have a working device in my hands. It's like a big adventure game and 500 people want reach the finish line :) |

Just an FYI, the nokia.de shop will not accept an international shipping address, sorry North Americans...
This is a ridiculous bungle and I'm getting more and more fed up with how it is being handled. I wouldn't be surprised if many North American developers move to a different platform if this isn't resolved soon. |

Today, my developer-discounted N810 arrived. It is a marvellous piece of hardware and software, way more elegant, polished and practical than my N800. The design is sleek, compact and all of the hardware seems of much better quality I was sceptical of the slider keyboard - after 2 hours of use, I can't imagine being without. It is so useful, much easier than the input on the N800. For me, this makes the N810 a large step forward on the way towards a mobile computing experience. And the backlit keys are just sexy :-) The included GPS will be nice once it works a bit better; probably needs an update or two. However, the idea of having GPS always on hand sounds sweet. The full device feels much more mature than the N800. If it took Nokia barely a year for such a step forward, I wonder what we will get in another year or two :-) |

I bought it Friday morning. Yesterday they sent me back my money because they don't have stock. It is soooooo disturbing!! I want it now! I want it now!
I WANT IT NOW! I don't understand how Star Wars fans could wait for so long for their first chapters to be writen. I've been waiting for my N810 for a couple of monthes and I can't stand it anymore. |

Mine just arrived (uk). Took three days on std del. It's charging now while I constantly stroke it :-)
Update: 1.5hrs to charge. 3mins for GPS lock! I am near London and simply put it on the window sill in the kitchen. The house is facing east and has extensions to either side so not much sky visible. Still, within three mins it had located 4 sats and was showing my location (few mins later it saw 7 sats). I have now moved it a few feet to the table, status shows "up to date", 7 sats in view, none in use. Not sure about altitude show 2m, if this is above sea level then I am pretty certain we are higher than that (at least I hope so!) |

I guess those of us in the US can take comfort in the fact that Sprint's XOHM booth at CES couldn't get a N810 either, as shown in the linked image courtesy of Engadget.com.

I spoke to a N810 Product manager at CES. Guys name is Jussi-Pekka, and was the UI designer for the first version of the OS. He was 'shocked' that all of the devices had not gone out, and wanted to call a colleague in Europe to understand why. Due to it being past midnight CET at the time, he promised to call in the AM tomorrow and report back to me. I'll update when I hear. Also heard some interesting news about the WiMax version, look for that (in partnership with Sprint) maybe in June. Clay |

I'm still at a loss to understand why they can't seem to get it set up for the U.S.? There's 2 flagship stores here, and both of them have N810s on the shelf, ready to walk out the door. Out of 500 developers/bloggers, exactly how many of those can BE in the States? I would argue not many, seeing as how they felt it was important to activate the codes in so many other countries.
Would it really be that difficult to set it up so the codes could be used in one of those 2 flagship stores? Give the store a list of the codes, hell, I've got contacts in both Chicago and New York who'll go pick it up for me. |

For information ... My code have worked on the french store... so i ve bought it friday (04/01/08) for 0 Euros + an express delivery of 13 Euros ... but i ve still not received it.
No more informations, french store hotline don't respond to call ... and there is no tracking number in the command status ... So ... the battle isn't only for the validity of the code .... |

My discount code went active in the german store on tuesday evening and the device arrived thursday morning. So at least the german store has the devices really in stock and delivers immediately.

Got it!!! :) :) :) :) Ordered tuesday evening for 0,- Euro by express. Nokia shop send me an email yesterday that it's shipped. Got it today after work directly from UPS office, because I was at work the whole day (and before Nokia Germany canceled anything from UPS like in France ;) ) A very very big thank you to Maemo Team and Nokia!!!! |
