Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
FYI, saw this sale at amazon for the iGo Stowaway Ultra-Slim Bluetooth Keyboard - 29.99 shipped! seems like a reasonable keyboard alternative .
one thread had the following as different name labels for this device "iGo/Thinkoutside Stowaway/Dell Stowaway Ultra/Palm" http://www.amazon.com/Stowaway-Ultra...684657-6642053 |
Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
I believe that one doesn't work with the N800/770.
This one will. The one you posted is for blackberry, and won't work with the tablet. But i may be wrong. EDIT: Okay, maybe I am wrong. |
Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
Isn't that exactly the same model?
|
Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
One of the reviews actually goes a little into how to pair it with an N800. Not complete instructions, but it shows it can be done.
|
Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
I ordered one of these, suppose to get it by this Wednesday. Hopefully it will work, either way I will try to post the results.
|
Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
From my readings, both models work. One person states that he prefers this (Sonoma) model than Sierra. I just ordered one yesterday.
|
Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
I ordered an N800 (from Buy.com) and this keyboard (from Amazon.com) yesterday.
I assumed Amazon's "iGo Stowaway Ultra-Slim Bluetooth Keyboard for Blackberry and other PDA/ Handhelds" will work based on this post: http://www.mobileplanet.com/r.aspx?i=113674&r=4015 Let me know when you get it working and if there's a problem. |
Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
I've just 'paired' an Igo ultra-slim keyboard (Thinkoutside model XTBT01) with my Nokia N800. I had a bit of trouble getting the Igo to transmit the number code, but I think that was due to my unfamiliarity with how to enter numbers rather than any problem with either device. The two devices recognised each other without having to download a specific driver -- now, if I can just get the keyboard paired with my trust Sony-Ericsson 610i I'll be a happy boy!

Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
Shoot, I ordered that one also (the one that specifically mentions blackberry). I can see that they haven't shipped it, so I can cancel if someone will confirm that this one specifically doesn't work with the N800. Anyone?
|
Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
This is where I got the information that n800 works with this keyboard:
http://tabletblog.com/2007/05/stowaw...h-folding.html Note Marc Orchant's comment about his preference. Also note: as I said before, ultra-slim = sonoma (4 rows), not sierra (5 rows). For comparison between the two (e.g. weight), see: http://www.pocketnow.com/index.php?a...reviews&id=893 |
Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
I did more digging on this site, and the one that mentions blackberry in the name, appears to be the shasta model which either doesn't work or it requires a different keyboard driver/program to mostly work. So, I canceled that order and ordered the other igo slim line that others say pretty much works right out of the box. It should arrive next week and I can confirm.

Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
Both my biz partner and I use Stowaways (now the ultra-slim model) with our N800s. I have the Dell branded black version and she has the Think Outside branded grey version. Both work great in both OS2007 and OS2008. I'm sure you guys will be fine.

Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
Yes this is the same keyboard I have been using for over a year, only difference is I paid $120 for it, c'mon iGo where is my discount, I demand it its only fair.

Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
I ordered this one from Amazon on Friday and received it today. I downloaded the Maemo Bluetooth Plugin version 0.6.1 from http://770.fs-security.com/maemo-bt-plugin/ . I installed the deb file through the application manager paired up the keyboard with my N800 running OS2007 and tested it for about 10 minutes and seems to work very well all the standard keys worked fine.

Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
I saw it @ $59.95 as well. I'm happy I jump on when it was 30 bucks :D
|
Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
The $27.99 deal was a 'Gold Box Special' (which has since expired, I think). The regular price is back up to $59.95. But I'm sure the n800 and bluetooth keyboards will continue to fluctuate in price during December, right? I have a feeling this forum will be very busy. :)

Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
the 29.99 deal is back (i.e. amazon has them in stock again, the 59.99 price was from an amazon partner)

Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
So what's the pairing procedure? I install the keyboard batteries, open it, and go to select a bluetooth device on the N800 OS2007 control panel. All I get is the message "no devices found." I selected the 105 key keyboard as well. Nothing. How do I know if the keyboard is on?
|
Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
nevermind: CTRL + LEFT FN + RIGHT FN on the keyboard.

Pairing procedure: 1. Go into menu: Tools -> Control Panel 2. Tap on Bluetooth 3. If Bluetooth is off, tap "Bluetooth on" checkbox 4. Now tap "Devices" 5. On the Stowaway keyboard, hold down CTRL LEFT-FN RIGHT-FN until you see the green LED above the "T" key flashing once per second. 6. On the Nokia, Click "New" and wait a few seconds while it finds and identifies your keyboard (comes up as "Think Outside Keyboard"). 7. Tap on the entry for the keyboard, you will see a dialog box showing a four digit code. 8. Tap OK on the Nokia and on the keyboard type the four digit code and press Return. 9. The pairing should complete after a few seconds. And for the record, I can also verify that the procedure is similar for the Apple (aluminum) wireless bluetooth keyboards (which is suprisingly compact but not foldable of course) - except you dont need to mess with CTRL LEFT-FN RIGHT-FN. The Apple keyboard is beautiful. I have both of these keyboards working nicely: |

Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
I will add my two cents. I have an N770 running OS2006. I go my XTBTUEI keyboard today. The $29.99 one on Amazon. This is not the XTBTUE model, whatever the difference may be.
All I did to get it to work was install the Bluetooth plugin. As I understand it, I only need to do this because I am using an N770 and OS2006. I opened the keyboard, put in the batteries, pressed and held ctrl-blue-green and told the Internet Tablet to connect. It did, and I could type. That is all there was to it, so I can also confirm this "Blackberry" model works fine. A couple of other notes, when I got the actual keyboard, there was no mention of the Blackberry on the original packaging. The only place it was mentioned at all was on a barcode sticker stuck over the original barcode on the back. The original packaging on the front actually says ... Ultra-Slim Bluetooth Keyboard for Smartphones and on the back it says... Truly Universal - works with almost any bluetooth enabled device. So it looks, to me anyway, that it is just a regular bluetooth keyboard with maybe some special printing on some of the keys associated with smartphones. Hope this helps anyone thinking about picking one up. |
Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
Wow, people were truly being ripped off for this before it was "marked down" to $30.
I've had the Amazon product page open so long--planning to buy it--that I can't shake the inertia and just go for it. |
Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
Is there anything better about the $39 model that makes it better for us?
|
Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
I just got my keyboard (was shipped to a US address in 2 days, had someone bring it back for me). It works, and quite well. I can't believe how small it is. The ONLY thing I can say that's bad, is they put some stupid #*$#*&$ sticker along the keyboard and the outside of it so I've been trying to scrape off the sticky paper residue for the last 20 minutes.

I got mine about Thanksgiving, and still have pieces of the darn sticker on some keys. It'll wear off. |
Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
Ditto on the sticker annoyance. It took ten minutes and Goo-Gone to get it off of mine.
|
Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
I was just wondering. When I type the words "don't, doesn't, haven't, etc..." I hope its not just me, but I need to type the " ' " symbol two times so it can show on the screen. Is it just me or that is the way it was meant to be?

Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
*** Get $60 Back *** if you bought your IGo Keyboard during Amazons Gold Box where it cost $89.99 and then they applied a $62 coupon to get it down to $27.99, you qualify for a PRICE MATCH from the $89.99 to the current $29.99 price; a $60 refund, thus giving you this keyboard for a $32ish profit!
I've done this as have several others. This works because you were actually sold the item for $89.99 and the $62 discount was a coupon and not price reduction. You need to call Amazon and request the credit. Merry Christmas! Happy Holidays! Happy New Year! |
Re: Igo BlueTooth Keyboard 29.99
I'm sure this is posted somewhere, but havent found it yet. How do re-enable the onscreen keyboard? I have disconnected the iGO, but havent got the onscreen to come back. Running OS2008.50

I have also noticed that the flashing green led stops flashing when the n800 is pairing. If I cancel the pairing, the light starts flashing again. I am running the new 2008os and the keyboard is a xtbt01. Any help would be appreciated. BTW I second the comments in other threads about the nasty sticker across the keys. If I could get my hands on the bozo who came up with that idea.... |
