Says two more hours to go. I have 10 Mb/sec broadband, the file is coming in a between .005 and .006 Mb/sec. :( I would love to know if it will do Skype with bluetooth, when you get a chance to test it. Thanks !

Search for the thread regarding the release of OS2008 for N800. Lots of us are seeding a bittorrent to allow fast download and not waiting for Nokia site (seems to have some bandwidth problems)

@Maxilogan:
Thanks for the tip. I am doing my part now also. I'm also seeding.

Funny, because I thought about Googling for a torrent of it, but talked myself out of even bothering to look. I just didn't think anyone would be doing it.

When I found it, and started the DL, it took less than 3 minutes with Azureus to get the entire file (after 5 hours from the Nokia site I only had 81% of it).

Thanks for the suggestion. I have it now and I'll continue seeding it for a few days.

Regards.

There is now an updated version of Skype in the Application Manager (4.42MB compared to 2.0MB)

So....this new N800 OS release from Nokia (RX-34 2008SE) works with Skype but not with bluetooth headsets? Is this correct?

I successfully paired my Moto HT820 stereo headsets with my N800/OS08. It works, kinda. I made the change to /etc/bluetooth/a2db.conf (?? I'm at work now, can't remember the file name), rebooted, and was able to use Kagu through my headset, but it was stuttery. It was almost like it would pair, play, unpair, repeat. I was getting the blips I get when I make/receive a cell phone call and the other end answers (or hangs up).

Don't know about Skype. I don't plan on using it at this time...

How does one get this updated version, in my apps folder it still shows 2.0 version. I really need to get Skype working, everything else I can wait for.

I also got Skype loaded and working. Gizmo Project also works on 2008OS with video, although I have not had a chance to try out the video part. Need a volunteer for that... one that has an N800 or N810.

Regards,

Omega (omegaone37 on Skype Studio37 on Gizmo)

Did you do a refresh your App Manager?

I've got the same issue, and when I check for updates in app manager, it says there are none.

One thing I noticed is that the App Manager's ability to find updates seems to be tied to what you have installed on your machine already. For example, before I installed anything all that showed was boingo and gizmo. After I manually installed GPE Calendar (and its libraries), I have many more installable apps in App Manager. Strange.

However, Skype is still the 2MB version that requires n810 firmware.
