the iphone does not offers services like that, common its an apple product they like to be "original" and would never ever think of sharing the connection with other devices....

but again i might be wrong
(mac geeks please dont hurt me):)

Seriously, if you don't have anything constructive to contribute why go around spreading FUD?

ok, you are wrong, i just helped this guy get an answer which i said that it is NOT possible to use the iphone as a modem as it was discussed before here macworld, i was just not trying to upset apple fans...because they will probably hack it eventually to do such function.

as a closing statement you are just filling false accusations... so please if you misunderstood my post, ask, dont argue

and mctablet sorry but such feature will never be officially avaiable, sorry to disappoint you:(

There was a article on lifehacker on setting up the iphone as a SOCKS server and then SSH into the iPhone...but it seemed like too much of a pain to do.

i'm sorry, and this may be a little off topic, but i never saw much of a point to it, most of the things that you can do w/ internet in an IT, you can do on the iPhone, and many of the IT apps can be used w/out internet. really its just a small number that falls through the cracks, i know that theres things that you can only do on an IT (which is why IT's are awesome) but if you have an iPhone out already, might as well just use that, or take it out
sry but thats just my opinion

dont be sorry its alright to express your opinion...
personally i think the i phone already commited suicide.
it is nice and awsome, but it is restricted to cingular and 90% of its functions are hammered by fees (ex Itunes), and i think it is way too expensive

ps: it uses EDGE, if you want to make such a "revolutionary" phone make it 3.5g and allow it to have selective storage, webcam, and a vast array of downloadable apps. that's why europe and nokia kicks the iphone's ***.lol:cool:

Re: Connect to iphone

Thank you for the answer, as sad as it is. The iphone is my favorite phone, I have had them all, except for the n95, which I would like to try, The reason I would like to connect is the n800 is superior for viewing when I am traveling and there are no hotspots.
The former poster is correct the edge sucks.:(
Thanks again.

It does seem odd that they limited Bluetooth (2.0!) to just the headset profile on the iPhone. I can understand a carrier wanting to limit something like DUN, but for a "state of the art" phone/media device you would think A2DP, OBEX and keyboard profiles would be included at least. I would assume people will hack that if they haven't already.

i know man, doesnt it make you question the inteligence of apple??
the iphone v1.0:) will eventually become one of apple's demise in the market

its mainly because of their lack of experience within the portable electronics market...

i dont think you need to start a new thread...
did you do a thread search for evdo?

what is the evdo aircard's interface? is it a pci card? or usb?

Re: Connect to iphone

I did do a search.
It is a usb connection, can I use an adapter? Do they make such a thing?

xPAKxMaster 2007-12-01 19:32

Re: Connect to iphone

go to this thread and ask if there is a way to connect through the card...

if nobody answers within about 1 day, then start a new thread titled "using evdo air card for internet" - that should get it attention
:)

by the way there is an adapter and as you will see in that thread, the community is working hard to get a bunch of things working, they already got a cd/dvd drive working.

myself- lol i have no clue on how to do it:confused:
