List of IT Applications
I've been wasting about 2 hours now trying to find good applications. So, well, I'm pretty annoyed. I realized that there is no thread like this (That I have seen anyway). So well, it should be made.
When you post which one is good. Post a link to the .install file Color Code: Means its OS2008 Ready Means its OS2007 Ready Mean it works for both Media Canola http://blog.lmartin.fr/dc2/public/n800/canola1.png UKMP Kagu Media Player Killikai (Folder Based) Communication Pidgin* Mauku Gaming ScummVM XMaeme LXDoom Internet Life * after installing you must go to application manager and search for Pidigin to install completely. I guess this thread would be nice for those rare applications that are not on the maemo site or in the application manager. If you have any of those, upload the .deb to mediafire and I'll make a mirror with a direct link. |
Re: List of IT Applications
Thanks Beni.
I'm sure someone will point out that there is a list like this in the Wiki but it hasn't been updated lately; no one knows about it. There is also a thread like this one, but it is full of debate about why the new OS won't download and how to use the torrent. It isn't very useful. For myself, I hope to find out whether Evince, Abiword and Notecase work before I install. I don't have enough time to experiment as the N800 is my main computer. If anyone could try these and report here (and/or on the Wiki) I'll promise a beer when they visit Colorado! Bruce |

Re: List of IT Applications
If you find good applications that aren't on the Maemo site, could you ask the developers to add them to the site? (Of course, including screenshots and descriptions would be best) And people who download applications from the Maemo site, please give feedback.

Re: List of IT Applications
Sorry, but Canola install file don't compatible with OS 2008.

Re: List of IT Applications
Notecase 1.7.2, using the .deb file from Sourceforge, said it installed correctly but didn't actually open. So, based on my test, it doesn't work with 2008.

Re: List of IT Applications
Rather than look at a list like this, I added all the repositories from the groovy repository site, then opened Application Manager and went down the list of installable programs.
This does leave out a few programs, such as Ruby, but gets most of them. |
