Re: Nokia N800 Internet Tablet @ Dell Canada for $199
A friend of mine took advantage of this deal. I've never held an N800 before, it'd be nice. :)

There is a delicious irony in your question as most Canadians have been trying to figure how to buy from American companies that only ship to the US. I am currently waiting for a delivery from Amazon.com to the UPS Store in Ogdensburg, NY. This involves driving to/from NY, going through customs twice and paying the bridge toll twice. It is still a good deal. We have UPS Stores in Canada, maybe they will do the same deal that the US UPS Stores do, $5.00 to use their address and hold it for you. Got a passport? You will need it to get back into the States:) |

Delicious eh? ;) Well we wouldn't need to ship to UPS. We do have relatives in Canada.( Victoria) My wife doesn't want to bother with that though. I'd just have to lure them down here with something to get the Nokia from them I guess. I suppose the question is whether I would also need to use a Canadian credit card or a card that has that Canadian address I use. Sorry, I'm a bit ignorant about all that. With the size of credit card companies these days, I suppose credit card companies are somewhat international. But I have no experience with that. So when you do find a USA company willing to ship to Canada, I guess maybe there are extra taxes and other fees? How smoothly does it go? NS |

Re: Nokia N800 Internet Tablet @ Dell Canada for $199
First of all, it was a one day deal and the prices are back to roughly the same as Dell US prices - which are not that bad, not great, but not bad.

As far as taxes are concerned, if shipped from US to Canada then I pay Canadian taxes and I guess the reverse is true. If shipped to a US mailing address then I pay state staxes if applicable and then Canadian taxes when I bring it across the border. Still better, much better, than feeding the courier companies. |

OP neglected to mention it was a one-day-only sale on the 3rd. It was mentioned in the other 2 threads about this though.
