GPS support for N800

Ok N800 will be fitted with OS2008. That's nice :) ! There is the wayfinder software in it. Ok. Now, where can we buy a support for the N800 used as a GPS ?

I don't think so that there is any bluetooth GPS for less than $10.00
" Gadgetguy " probably joking.

You will see the price somwhere between $40-$80, depending on the chip.

Re: GPS support for N800

Search Amazon for "SD GPS SDG". It's a $60 GPS Bluetooth device that is powered by your SD slot (and provides a SD micro slot). I haven't bought it yet, but seems like a better option than buying a N810. It can't be worse than the reports from the N810 users.

Edit; good catch frasej. I knew it would stick out, and would mean having the kickstand open or removed. I didn't know the door had to be closed to recognize the card. well there are external options... that and it seems I have more to learn before buying.

You can also connect to an N95, E90, or 6110 and use them as external GPS devices connected to your tablet via bluetooth using this phone software.

Works for me:)

I haven't seen that model, so don't flame me for say this, but, most SD GPS units stick out of the SD card slot. If that's the case with this one, then it won't work as the little door has to be shut before the unit will recognize that there is a card in it.:(

I would be highly suspicious that an SD based GPS will work with the tablet (or any Linux system) until I hear otherwise from someone who is already using it. Don't let me stop you from trying it, though.

Fry's has been closing out of the older Nokia LD-1W Bluetooth GPS receivers. One can be bought from there for $37, brand new. It's got a SIRF II chip in it though, so it's not the fastest receiver.

i have the ld-3w and it works great, i know this is a little more than you wanted to spend but it works, id like to try hacking it into a thinner, longer form and replace the battery pack cover with it. if anyone has any suggestions let me know. if this works ill post it up here.
