Re: Password Safe
What format version does PasswordSafeSWT use ?
passwordSafe for Maemo only supports 1.x & 2.x ... |
Re: Password Safe
Looks like PasswordSafeSWT uses v3.0 file format.
Any plan to update the N900 version to support the v3.0 format? |
Re: Password Safe
there was a planned contribution for bringing v3 to the project but so far it hasn't landed yet ...
can you manage your passwod database with a 2.x format ? |
Re: Password Safe
I use Mac,and there aren't many options for Mac users. Can't find anything that still supports 2.x format.

Re: Password Safe
I backuped my N810 and exported my passwords to a file (txt) before I flashed it. Now I installed Password Safe again. How can I import my passwords from the txt file?
Thanks in advance. |

Re: Password Safe
What evolution/bug correction do you need ?
If it's interesting I might do it ;) |

Afaics the Maemo version does v2 only. Is that correct? If yes: that would be an important evolution. I'd pay 10 to 20EUR for a stable version that is capable of exchanging files with the newest version here: http://passwordsafe.sourceforge.net/index.shtml Thanks in advance. |
Re: Password Safe
Would you consider using v2 files with your desktop password Manager ?
|
Re: Password Safe
I took a quick look at the v3 file format : it looks like it is based on XML (once decrypted).
It would be a big job to modify pwsafe to read this format and then there are some functionnalities that would be hard to support like hierarchical groupping (there's only one level of group in the V2 format) ... Sorry :( |

When using v2 format and exporting the database, I realized that the N900 version of Password Safe has problems with large Notes. I can reopen the v2 files with Password Safe 3.26 but the notes are lost on the N900 version. How to recreate this problem: -use version 3.26, -save an item with a huge note (e.g. some text from some newspaper - just for testing) -export to v2 format -transfer database file to N900 -open with Password Safe on N900: result: the Note is gone! Maybe it is enough to check this bug (is it a bug or is there some unknown limit?) to make Password Safe usable on N900. |
Re: Password Safe
Thanks for the report
You can open a bug in the Maemo Bugzilla system (https://bugs.maemo.org/). To be complete, did you try to create a big note on the N900 ? The note could be lost by the export function in the desktop version ? |

I can read this entry on the desktop. So there seems to be an error when reading pwsafe files exported on desktop on N900. The note must be there because the desktop version is able to read the exported v2 file. Maybe the line endings of the DOS text make problems? Filed Bug 12417 for this. |
