Problem with left speaker?

On my N810 the left speaker doesn't sound as good as the right one. It's difficult to explain but I would say the left one has less bass and more treble in comparison to the right one. Most noticeable it is when you set the volume to the lowest level and play one of the two music videos with the media player.

Did anybody else notice this or is this just a problem on my N810?

I have the same problem and thought the left speaker might be dead until I tried the left and right 500Hz samples at http://www.eminent-tech.com/music/multimediatest.html. Those samples are a lot louder in my right speaker.

@cyanogen

Thanks for the confirmation.

I got mine from the german online shop of Nokia with a QWERTZ keyboard.
I didn't update the firmware so it is still the original -18 version.

Now we really have to look for the cause of this problem:
- just a firmware problem?
- design problem of all N810?
- a bad production run?
- bad quality assurance and just a few N810 with this problem?

Would be helpful if other N810 owners could check the speakers and report the results.

I have to agree with you, The right speaker has more bass and the left speaker has more treble - giving it a rumble. I am using the latest os update. I would like to know if this is normal or a defect. I have considered contacting Nokia about this.

I think this may be a defect in some speakers. I have very distorted quiet sound in both.

If you have good hearing, try playing music at 1/2 volume. Do you hear distorted sound (like.. well a broken speaker)?

Re: Problem with left speaker?

Sometimes it's not the speaker but the waves of the music toward the speakers... I hope it's not too bad otherwise go and read your exchange policy and exchange it or have them fix it for you. Good Luck

I sent my N810 back to Nokia for repair for this problem. They returned it finding nothing wrong.

Re: Problem with left speaker?

Update: I got a replacement N810 from Nokia and this one works perfect. Both speakers are flawless and the sound is much louder and clearer, no distortion at all.

Besides that I noticed that the Home and ESC buttons on the front work also much better. On my first N810 pushing the buttons produced always an awfull crackling noise, probably the cover of the buttons had contact with the front plate. On my new N810 this problem is also non existent.

Wow I downloaded the sound samples and there is hardly any volume out of the left speaker. I was suspicious and how disappointing. It seems like a crap shoot exchanging it...Hope the next one works properly. Going to have a hard time parting with this little gem. Has anyone confirmed if it can be fixed in software? Thx.
