Go there and download the mapper repository and search for espeak on the application manager, if that doesn't work, then delete all the catalogs and then download all the repositories and then search, I recommend you try the mapper repository first, because if you install all repositories then it will take a long time to load

Connecting to the local server is easy, its mimicking the wayfinder one that is hard.

The idea is that your new *fake* server would tell wayfinder to activate a trial no matter what.

My guess is the best way to go about this would be to use a program like wireshark and capture the network traffic while it is activating. then find a way to mimic it (harder than it sounds).

I was once curious and did this, but I have since lost the capture file. Since it looks like the current activation servers are down it looks like we cannot capture the activation. However I could be wrong. (If the activation ever starts working again let me know and ill try to capture it)

This is of course only one way to do this, there are others such as hacking the binary itself, which I know nothing about.

I found on the folder /home/user/.navicore/settings.txt the folow informations about the server:

This only applies if you have paid for it.


I have a fix!!! hope you guys can test it.

close map if you have it open.

go and find an old backup of settings when you have wayfinder activated (any one that you have when you know wayfinder was activated)

copy the setting.zip from the backup folder to your pc and extract it

i installed open ssh server on the n810 and used sftp but this is up to you how you do it.

open the extracted zip file and go to "Root\home\user\.navicore"

on the device (i used filezilla and sftp) browse to "/home/user/.navicore"

replace the settings.txt in to the .navicore folder with the one from the backup.

now copy all the files from the lbd folder from the backup to the device.

reopen maps and it should be activated.

if this works please tell me.
also feel free to write a better tutorial as i know this one is not great.

MicroChip123, would you mind sending me (or posting) a copy of your navicore backup? If i can find the string that makes navicore work i will post a modified file that should work for everyone.

Not going to work. The activation is time limited and it checks the time with the gps, the communication with the server is encrypted, good luck deciphering it.
The only way to make it work is to fake the mac of an already licensed navicore and copying the files in /home/user/.navicore/ldb of said licensed navicore.

The problem is that the server services.navicoretech.com is offline which means that maps cant be downloaded and license keys cant be activated.

it could be that the server just needs a reboot as its pinging fine.



also does anyone has the France and Spain maps from this page (2008 version)

what are the contents of settings.txt? i wonder if the same file can work for multiple installations.

and if it does in fact work like you describe maybe there is a way to get it to work, we just need to find a file from the original installation of Navicore Navigation Kit 2007 that came with unlimited license before the Wayfinder 3 year limit.

Wayfinder is a good navigation software. But now it is unusable O.o
It is quite ridiculous to integrate a gps-mouse in a device and then not allow to use the software without buying an extra software...
the open street maps alternatives are quite junk in my opinion as they do not have good maps for Germany.
Any way to get wayfinder running without internet etc?

So there's really no way to "open" this software on the N810.

I didn't even get a full day to evaluate the software. I had problems with my N810 that resulted in me sending it back and I never got a chance to test it when it came back from repairs.

This... sucks.

Well, lucky you :), I wrote them twice and didn't get any response from them.

I am one of those who bought the Navicore Navigation Kit, i. e. an unlimited license, but now cannot use Wayfinder because of this silly license limitation.

As far as I understand, Wayfinder was bought by Vodafone, so Vodafone is the company which is now breaking the licensing commitment. I guess, if we bring a charge against them, the odds are quite high that it would be successful.

Well, it's admittedly far from a solution, but this is what I managed to do: I changed the system date and without switching the GPS module on, I could let Wayfinder calculate a route. It even remains in the navigation mode (i. e. premium mode, for which you need a license) after getting GPS fix, but as soon as it needs to recalculate route, it will stop working because of the wrong system time.

So it's not really usable, but it looks like it's possible first of all in the non-premium mode with GPS switched on to see where you are standing at the moment, then change the system date, enter Wayfinder in the premium mode with GPS switched off, lets it calculate the route, switch GPS on and then exactly follow this route and hope it won't need to recalculate it. :)

oh yea, I did that before when I changed the date when activationg the 7-day trial. But i cant activate it now either.. unless someone is willing to share the backup file as mentioned or another resolution

I have been going a bit nuts and glad to find this thread. Basically my original N800 is a bit the worse for wear having been cheerfully abused by my 3 year old grandson (bless him) so I bought a second hand N800 in pristine condition to replace it.

Navicore needs to be deactivated on the old handset and then re-activated on the new.

I couldn’t understand why my deactivation request was met with “Licensing Error/An unknown error (0) has occurred”.

Since it is clear that neither Navicore, Wayfinder nor Vodafone will help, how can I spoof the deactivation/reactivation process on the relevant devices?

This is legitimate software that I purchased with a lifetime licence so I am not being shady in any way.

I think you are really better of by swapping the outer casing and screen between your devices... unless it is the actual motherboard that you need replacing?

Thank you for the advice. It is the old screen that has been bashed and has become unresponsive.

I recall some disassemblling videos posted a while back by thoughtfix (? sorry if that is a mis-name) and I shall see if they are still up.

Yes, my files will allow you to fake the mac address to use your existing licence until the expiration date.

Hi, I have been checking over the instuctions contained in the readme.txt and have difficulty with item "4) edit /home/user/mac to reflect the mac address of the registered navicore"

Basically there doesn't seem to be a file or directory in /home/user/ called 'mac' and this includes .hidden. I have checked both N800s - each of which has maps installed and one of which is activated.

Is there a step that I am missing?

In order to effect all of this I have installed emelFM2.

Well, there will be a sample one once you follow item "1) unzip this file in /home/user" ;)
Oh, do this only on the new n800, and edit /home/user/mac to have the mac of the old one.Edit: and use lower-case for hexadecimal numbers, don't know if it matters but lower-case definitely works.
