Hello Everyone Need some advice
 

Hi guys i am new to this site and im loving it :)

I am a web security student. i was told by a friend that nokia 770 or n800 is a good device to use for hacking/security?

I am thinkin of purchasing one of them but i dont know which one is good for hacking/security? so i was wondering if you guys could give me some advice?

also what sort of hacking/security software is availabe for the tablet? and where can i get it?

770 is probably better than the N8x0 - Kismet runs better on the 770, whereas the N8x0 WiFi stack has bugs and flaws which prevent Kismet from working well.

I believe so - there is a security firm flogging 770s with metasploit and other security tools as a package for about $3500. I don't if they created their own builds or used/customised an existing metasploit package (which may be out of date now).

This guy got Metasploit running on the N800...

by the way how can i downgrade to OS2005 on my 770 ? i cant find the firmware image anywhere i've been searching for an hour now.

The 2005 OS is there so you can flash it to your device although why anyone would want to go back to that version of the OS is beyond me :confused:.

OS 2007 HE is arguably the best OS for 770 - possibly not the most stable (but stability is very good) and it's more up to date than the last release of OS 2006.

I finally took the plunge to OS2007HE about a month ago. I've noticed two things compared to OS2006:

1.) No difference in stability for me - - sometimes things just cack out and disappear (like the web browser), but not any more or less often.

2.) There are a LOT more apps available - - all those N800 2007OS apps are yours for the taking. :)

hi guys i got my 770 installed kismet and stuff works great i am usin os2007HE

i was wondering if aircrack-ng is available for 2007

and can some1 tell me about VNC viewer what software do i need to install etc? i got vnc viewer on my tablet what else do i need to do

Jesus, give it some time, you don't need to bump threads. You obviously need VNC software installed on some type of PC for you to use it. Aircrack is available, you need to add the Maemo-Hackers repository or something. You can just install all of the OS2007 repositories by going here: http://gronmayer.com/it/index.php?lang=en&system=maemo3
