N800 out of box has plastic film over screen?
Does the N800 have a plastic film over the screen when I comes new out of the box? I think I see one if I look at the edges of my screen but don't know the best way to get it off, or whether it is really the screen touch sensor?
Thanks |
Re: N800 out of box has plastic film over screen?
It is just a plastic film. I just got mine today and it took me a second to figure this out too. I just used a mechanical pencil with a metal tip to pry the corner up. I wouldn't use something too sharp but it needs to be pointy. Maybe a fingernail would work too. As long as you don't have sticker residue like I had on mine, you could probably just leave the film on there to protect it. It would be a free screen protector!!
Good luck. |

Use a piece of scotch tape on the edge. That way you don't accidentally scratch the screen. Cause that would suck.

Really, you should just leave it on until you can get a real screen protector on there. It'll scratch up pretty fast, but it keeps the screen protected. Order yourself one of the Boxwave anti-glare protectors soon, though.
I used the factory shipping protector on my N800 for 6 months before replacing it with a Boxwave protector—it was very scratched. ;) |

I'll just leave the factory protection film on. I ordered some screen protectors from an ebay merchant but they haven't arrived yet.

I got my N800 yesterday and the unit did not have a protective film. Unfortunately there was 2 stickers on the screen. Any thoughts on the least abrasive way to remove the residual glue from the stickers?

Second, I used to work in a used book, and we used Ronsonol lighter fluid to remove stickers off just about anything and everything. Just any lighter fluid wont work, though, you need something naptha based. |

Yes. I also have one. Have had it all the time since my N800 was new. No problem.
