n8x0 as bluetooth handsfree
Hello!
does anybody know a way how to implement such functionality on nokia? It will be really great ability for them, who will keep mobile in pocket and work just with n8x0, especially while driving a car... |
Re: n8x0 as bluetooth handsfree

Re: n8x0 as bluetooth handsfree
Ok cool ;) Thanks
|
Re: n8x0 as bluetooth handsfree
sounds good...
i've been wonderinng whether this was possible too. i'll an eye on this thread. |
Re: n8x0 as bluetooth handsfree
It would just be great!!!
- Answer your Skype calls on your N8x0 - Answer your Gizmo or SIP calls on your N8x0 - Answer your cellphone calls through your N8x0 (as a handsfree tool) On the other hand it is possible to pair it as an input/output sound device... but for some reason it does not work. It pairs with my MacBook, and my Mac recognizes it as an input and output BT sound device, but nothing else happens... My N800 shows the headset connected icon (with my computer name on it) BTW, anyone knows if there's a way to DIAL through your N8x0 and use your cell phone connection (NOT INTERNET, just "regular" mobile service) to make calls?? I mean like dialing 911 in your N8x0 and your mobile "receiving the 911" and dialing again... just like voice dialing on a BT headset, but only with keys... |

Re: n8x0 as bluetooth handsfree
Can anyone confirm whether this application ACTUALLY WORKS????
connects and then immediately disconnects on my phone and it appears that this is the case with everyone. I've heard no confirmation form ANYONE that this application works under os2008 so please can anyone confirm if they have got it working and how. I've also tried Cellphone Tool, which would appear to have more functionality than phonelink, however it is awaiting the Gnokii plugin. |
Re: n8x0 as bluetooth handsfree
leoni1980, I have the same problem with phonelink, I have find a working gnokii binary on google, but this change nothing, I the .gnokiirc, a file seems to be needed, /usr/sbin/gnokiid, I havn't it...this is maybe while the app doesn't work...?
|
Re: n8x0 as bluetooth handsfree
phonelink does not work for me as well (n800 with os2008) :-(
|
Re: n8x0 as bluetooth handsfree
Phonelink works for me no problemo !
If you want some help we might go back to a phonelink specific thread ? Fred |
Re: n8x0 as bluetooth handsfree
I have install gnapplet on my n70 and set in .gnokiirc:
model = nseries6 and after launch gnapplet on the phone, this seems to be better but phone or send sms don't work yet, but I think this is because I havn't find gnokiid yet... |
Re: n8x0 as bluetooth handsfree
fredol what were the steps you took to get it working? and have you tried cellphone tool as this seems more useful given a choice between the two apps. if it is possible to get things working then noobs like myself need a guide!
also does it make any difference what country you're in? my cellphone is unbranded but im in the uk on t-mobile |
Re: n8x0 as bluetooth handsfree
Hi leoni,
I just installed it (and wrote it beforehand) you can grab a version from your AppManager (from extras repository) The only problem then is to find the right driver for your phone ... Give me your phone model and I'll try and give you the right driver (from www.gnokii.org) |
Re: n8x0 as bluetooth handsfree
EDITED: it was totally a wrong post, I was going to write in gmail but ended up here!! Unbelievable :)
Anyway.. gnokii works for me too, but it "works" here is very subjective and related to the cellphone. On my SE v640i can only send SMS and access the phonebook (and maybe few other things) |
Re: n8x0 as bluetooth handsfree
hi, thanks for your reply. My phone is an unbranded nokia n95. Can you run me through the steps i need to take? Thank you once again for your help.

Re: n8x0 as bluetooth handsfree
If I'm not mistaken the N95 is a S60 Serie phone
You have to go through the steps described here : http://wiki.gnokii.org/index.php/Series60Config So the correct steps are : 1/ install phonelink (will install libgnokii and create a .gnokiirc file) 1.5/ install emelFM and leafpad 2/ edit your gnokiirc file (I would recommand emelFM as a file manager that would allow you to see the hidden .gnokiirc file and then open it with leafpad : double click => open => leafpad) Tell me and others if it works ... |
Re: n8x0 as bluetooth handsfree
As far as I know, gnokii and phonelink use the BT serial profile over rfcomm. Whether it works depends on whether the BT stack on the N8x0 supports your phone. I experienced problems with my Series 60 phone (Nokia E60). For example, BT DUN works for me with the latest Nokia Communications update. However I am still not able to browse the phones files using the BT FTP profile.

Re: n8x0 as bluetooth handsfree
You can find emelFM2 here http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...84&postcount=1
and it looks like it can do the editing too ! |

I've found out this page http://www.holtmann.org/linux/bluetooth/audio.html, about bluetooth audio profiles and, in Section "4. Emulating a headphone" it specifically states: Quote:

|
Re: n8x0 as bluetooth handsfree
I am really interested in this project. hope to see great things soon!
|
Re: n8x0 as bluetooth handsfree
Has there been any progress on any app that will allow an n8X0 to be used in this fashion?
|
Re: n8x0 as bluetooth handsfree
I'm interested to know as well. This will be a BIG help. Specially, if the name/number other phone options pop up on the tablet.

Re: n8x0 as bluetooth handsfree
Last night I tried phonelink with my Nokia 6301 ... with no success.
It'd be nice if phonelink was more mature and complete (the UI was kind of lacking as well). |
