What phone has the fastest bluetooth connection speed?
 

Well, I'm getting a new phone to accompany my N810. I don't really want a smartphone, but a regular phone that has a very fast bluetooth connection speed.

Any Bluetooth phone (even BT 1.0 spec) will be more than fast enough for the N8x0 while surfing over DUN - the N8x0 Bluetooth/DUN connection is sub-optimal (see bug #1771 for more details).

But which is the fastest. Are there any non-smartphone phones with 3.0G? I tried my friend's razr, but the connection worked extremely slow.

EDIT: So no matter what, it will be very, very slow.

I think that you're mixing up two things as you mention 3G. Bluetooth is only used to connect your tablet to your phone. Your phone's modem, dataplan and network coverage define the speed you can browse the net. If you want a fast wireless connection to your tablet, you should look into what kind of technologies (EDGE, 3G, HSDPA?) your carrier supports, and pick a phone that can use the fastest of them. Remember to also see the network coverage maps.

My carrier has 3,5G in city centers and heavily populated areas, and pretty good EDGE coverage elsewhere, so I picked Nokia 6120 which supports both.

Your frend's RAZR was slow, because it only supports GPRS data transfer, not because of slow bluetooth speed.

At the moment, any 3g phone with bluetooth will probably give you much the same results. However, should the N810 bugs get sorted, the theoretical best is a phone that has 3.5G + BT 2.0 + EDR.

Personally, I'm after an N82, but if T-Mobile don't offer it soon, I might go for the Viewty.

Well, when I see some of the other "bugs" that are of a higher priority, I have to believe that the priority order can change depending on what is served for lunch. :D

If nokia calls our tablet "Internet tablet" and it doesn't offer internal HSDPA chip capability so it's a very serious BUG!!!

For browsing at Broadband speed at mobile remain to us only a Wifi HSDPA chip mobile supposed alternative.

If I knew it before I would buy an Ipod Touch instead a N800.

That's how it should work - the reality is very different... maemo bugzilla is largely a waste of time. I've just about given up on it, and by extension the whole project. :(

N800 OS2008 -> Bluetooth -> RAZR V3xx (3g) -> http://dslreports.com/mspeed = 600-800kbps with a 1 meg file size.

That's more than fast enough.

Edit: Of course I'd NEVER violate the T & C's of my cell contract and tether an N800 to a phone. ;)

I'm making good experiences with N800 + 6110 Navigator, allthough since I changed my provider to Swisscom I often can't connect and have to re-pair the devices.

Many cell plans allow for tethering. Everyone should figure out if their individual plan allows for it. My blackberry plan allows for tethering.

For me too, those generations are moving fast, so it's better to have a WWAN-free device to keep up with a cheap phone which handles it. They're cheap especially in combination with a contract.

For me it's a bug to call the iPhone an "internet communications device" introduced in 2007 without 3G.

Many cell phone data plans specifically exclude tethering. Some allow tethering. The plans that allow tethering tend to be more expensive than those that don't. I'm implying that in order to run that speed test, I had to tether on a non-tethering plan. Of course I'd never do that, right?

When the iPhone goes 3G, real flash implementation, DUN, can interface with a Blackberry server (which I have heard rumors of), all hell is going to break loose.
