New N800 owner

Hi everyone,

I am a very proud owner of a new N800, I know its not the latest and greatest... baby steps!

I bought it on ebay, it was still sealed with the Nokia Stickers and it does look new.
The only thing I would like to validate against other owners is that the box was severely battered.
The battery cover is loose, not a lot but it does have some play on it. Is this normal?

The unit seems fine it starts up I used it for about an hour now, so I believe it all working.
thanks....

Yes, that's normal.

As long as this is a "what's normal" thread on the N800.

The battery that came with mine did not have the Nokia hologram sticker on the top it as referenced in the users manual. It was on the bottom.

The battery seems to be working okay, but with all of the counterfeit battery issues in recent years, one would like to be sure.

Cheers for the response, that is good.

I am paranoid or just very tired.
On the right side of the screen all along the side you can see light smudges of the back light.... ?

Normal, will improve over the life of the device.

- i know you're going to like your n800... i really like mine!

- i guess your next big question might be: Should I upgrade to OS2008?

(and i can't answer that for you, because i like both OS2007 and OS2008!)

:-)

it's not the latest, but it *is* the greatest, and best value, too.

Personally, I would recommend an immediate upgrade to OS2008, too.

I would second the recomendation to upgrade to OS2008. Not for the other features (and anoyances), but because since software development is going in that direction, you'll have to upgrade eventually. And better to start off upgraded instead of getting a bunch of stuff working in OS2007, then having to rework it all for OS2008. And anything that isn't working in 2008 yet will eventually (but on the converse, it is quiet likely that things will come out for 2008 that will never work in 2007).
Hopefully future OS upgrades won't break backward compatibility so much.

I have a question on battery life? Can you run the N800 off of the AC battery charger, and avoid this 2-, 3-, 4-hour battery life issue??
Also, I don't have a N800 yet, but another question pops up. Google his its "Documents" program. Can't you get access to that for a word doc program??

Of course. What led you to believe that you couldn't?
