32 Gig SD Card Released

Just an FYI everyone.

Don't know if it will work in the N800 but it's certainly something to look forward to.

Yes, they will work fine.

Have you tried one? If not, then how could you possibly know. I know that Nokia has officially only supports the 8 Gig SDHC for use in the N800 and it's somewhat obvious, by virtue of the numerous various SD posts on this forum, that there are a more then a few N800 users having issues with the myriad of SDHC manufacturer variants on the market today. I don't know that I would automatically jump to the conclusion that the 32 Gig SDHC card will work.

Call me cautious.

I'm with General Antilles on this one; somewhere I read that all the future SDHC cards should be compatible. Search, maybe you would find the technical details on it?

That 32GB Class 6 device is going to cost almost as much as my N800 :D

That's awesome! Too bad I don't have the N800. I can't wait until SanDisk releases the 16GB microSDHC card so can have 18GB in my N810! =D

Rather then starting another SDHC debate I would prefer to err on the side of caution and adopt a "wait and see" attitude on the compatibility of the 32 gig SDHC card. In all probability it will work just fine in the N800 but I'm not going to be an early adopter. Aside from the possible technical issues it's going to be, for the time being, cost prohibitive.

Bull. There are a lot of user's with crappy SDHC cards, there are a lot of confused users with poor understandings of how to use their devices, and there are a few users who fell victim to the SDHC bug from way back in 2007—but there are no users with decent-quality SDHC cards (of any size) with problems stemming from lack of support for the standard. I have personally used just about everything from 16MB to a 16GB in SD and SDHC and had no problems whatsoever.

Good for you, but the N800 will support cards up to 2048GB in size perfectly fine. There is absolutely no reason to believe that it wont, and every reason to believe that it will (it's an SDHC device, and SDHC says cards up to 2048GB work fine).

Now wouldn't THAT be awesome! Two of these and you'd have 4TB on your tablet! Well I guess I can dream anyway.

With standardized specs, 8, 16, and 32GB should be fully supported. I have a 160GB external hard drive attached to my computer. I can say with extreme confidence, that my computer will be able to handle 500GB from the same manufacture. Why is that? You don't always need to try it or have it officially announced. My gateway laptop never officially stated it would support 160GB external hard drives either.

Re: 32 Gig SD Card Released

I agree that based on industry accepted standards, all SDHC cards should, in theory, work in the N8X0 devices. However, as The General has stated,
and I agree, not all SDHC media (as with hard drive technology) are engineered to the exacting standards required as per the SDHC compliance.

There are certainly a collection of unfortunate N800 users, that have posted on this forum, that can attest to imperfections in the design and manufacture of the many brand variants of SDHC cards and, I suspect, external drive technology.

The world's an imperfect place; Buyer Beware.
