Re: using rdesktop with windows xp home edition
I believe that Microsoft doesn't include the required services in XP Home. I could be wrong however...

Re: using rdesktop with windows xp home edition
I just came across this in another post on this site.
http://www.geekport.com/2007/08/15/e...op-in-xp-home/ I haven't tried it yet but apparently you can get redesktop on XP Home. Doesn't look easy though. |

Re: using rdesktop with windows xp home edition
nah, it was a joke...its no where near 52.8 hours
i believe i set up a VNC server (through tight VNC?) im still trying to learn linux and utilizing the n810 to the fullest in general...basically its through trial and error and the search feature but how do you access it using SSH i probably could eventually figure it out (like everything else ive done so far), but this might save me some time |

Re: using rdesktop with windows xp home edition
Its nice work. Rdesktop is great and you really appreciate it in the n*** series. However now your playing with it if you find a keystroke to get the widows start button to work do share!
I run with my task bar auto minimised to get the best real estate I can and this is an issue for rdesktop. The only real issue. Right click can be got withthe menu button which is nice. Having a static IP address is the best! Enjoy your fun. |
Re: using rdesktop with windows xp home edition
Is there a way to increase the screen size in rdesktop? When I tried it earlier, it was using the 800x480 screen size. For me, it is an issue because I commonly work with an application where 1024x768 is the smallest usable resolution. Also, I was not able to get the on-screen keyboard working.

Re: using rdesktop with windows xp home edition
i put devcon.exe in c:\ and ran it from there. also make sure you are loggd out of your user name completely before attempting to rdesktop. i had the same problem with the screen going blank.
btw im not using the rdesktop gui. im running it from the command line |
Re: using rdesktop with windows xp home edition
To answer my own question on how to et the task bar if its autominimised... its the full screen hardware key on the top left.
