Ok I had this EXACT same problem over the weekend, and just got it working last night. I found that MANY people had the problem when OS2008 first came out and someone suggesting removing your memory cards from the n800 because they may have become corrupted after the reflash. So I removed them and it worked PERFECTLY, everything would install, giving me no problems at all.
