Re: Suggestions for the next OS release
1. Better scrool funktion with the d-pad, like on S60 devices would be pefect for me.
2. +3 on A2DP support. 3. Maybe some kind of power controll software where you can set cpu speed and brightness and have several settings for maximum power and for maximum battery, and maybe more advanced where it can auto set the speed and brightness according to battery power, like on a pc? |

One more thing it would be nice if it was possible to sync the bookmarks and contacts with pc suite, like on n-series smartphones, maybe also a sync software on the device to syng directly with a s60 device.

Re: Suggestions for the next OS release
Sorry, revived an old thread instead of starting a new one....
Some of my suggestions for the next OS release 1. Running applications in the background (load webpages, load email, error messages should just use a blinking icon to show that they’re there, not to kick off the active page) 2. A more streamlined (i.e. faster) web-browser that retains flash support. MicroB, as micro as it is, is still painfully slow on some websites, even with adblock and flashblock addons enabled. 3. Touch keyboard needs to have buttons that are more separated from each other (a la iPhone), making it less likely to press two keys or press the wrong key 4. Allow the user to delete or re-add applications to the menu (some of that built-in crap needs to go…permanently…) 5. Allow the user to delete the other shortcut web and communication buttons on the desktop 6. Handwriting recognition needs to be sped up. I’d like to write more often, but the slow speed prevents me from doing it. I’d also wish it would wait till I pressed space or a punctuation key before turning my handwriting into a word. 7. D-pad needs to be configured to actually scroll on a webpage instead of just moving a cursor down the webpages text and links (that's what happens on my OS2008 N800 at least). 8. Movable error messages and other popup prompts. It's hard to say yes or no when you can't see exactly what the message refers to sometimes. Also, does anyone know how we can get Nokia to listen in on these suggestions? |

Re: Suggestions for the next OS release
I think all the "hacks" that people here have worked so hard on should be included. To name a few:
Screen Rotation A2DP Bluetooth PAN OGG support (built in) etc.... Aside from that, a super smooth GUI and open source default apps. Oh, and faster everything. :D |
Re: Suggestions for the next OS release
General Antilles,
It may just be some of the sites I'm browsing, but when I open links in new windows and the link finishes loading, it jumps the browser to the new link even after I've switched back to the main page to continue reading whatever is was there. Could you please direct me to the threads/sites explaining how to manipulate the menu and desktop? It would be greatly appreciated! I guess some of the things I requested were things I was hoping would be built-in on the next iteration, instead of add-ons or workarounds (for example screen rotation). Thanks for all the answers. |
Re: Suggestions for the next OS release
Some desires for me:
MicroB: The ability to open a web page in a new window in the Background instead of in front Acceleration based scrolling ala Safari on the iPhone OS: Better (or more obvious) power management or sleep. My tablet ends up dead more often than I expect it to. For example, my old palm let me down unexpectedly a couple times a year. My tablet lets me down a couple times a month. Smaller font for the application start menu or better layout, ala Personal Menu Python and Java built into the os so devs can depend on them to be in place Application Manager: Better repository management, I have no clue which ones I should or should have, or where a program is coming from Ability to jump to application in list by typing the first letter. e.g. pressing L brings you to the first application starting with L in the list Ratings visible in the application manager, e.g. 5 stars for numpty physics and ability to sort by popularity or rating. |
