I-Go kb and new N800 problems

Hello everyone. I just got my new N800 in the mail last night, and I love the dang thing. I have two questions though.

First, does anyone else have intermittent problems with their power button not powering the unit back up? I have had about a 50/50 sucess rate to this point. Is this common? Is it something to worry about?

Secondly, I bought the I-Go bluetooth keyboard as well. My problem is that I am unable to get it to sync with my N800. I can get it to see it, but when I try to sync, it times out. Has anyone else had problems? Any ideas as to how I should fix this?

Sorry I got wordy. I am a noob so please forgive me. Thanks.

Have you updated to the latest firmware? The latest release of OS2008 was issued specifically to fix a power-on bug. It will likely help you.

Also, the tablets are designed as "always on" devices, so you may not need to boot up very often.

The iGo keyboard requires a couple of unintuitive steps to get it going, but it works beautifully after that. You should be able to find instructions with a quick forum search; this has come up quite often.

Er, "unintuitive"? Put it into discovery mode, pair it and enter the code? Not sure what's "unintuitive". . . .

"Unintuitive" implies that it's not possible to get the keyboard working simply by staring at the keyboard and OS prompts. The code entry thing in particular is quite non-obvious at first. I don't think the manual mentioned anything about that.

Start the pairing, enter the code? Still don't see it.

Intuitive != easy. If something is intuitive, it should be obvious how to complete it the first time through. This is not really the case with the iGo keyboard. Sure, it's easy when you know how, but the process isn't exactly staring you in the face.

Thanks for the quick replies.

I did acutually search the forums and came up with a post from tori 12-25-2007, 06:02 AM titled "The easy way to connect N800 to I go keyboard". I followed it step by step, but I ran into problems at step 13. I get to the point where it tries to pair with the device, I note the number, it goes through trying to pair with the device but then I get an timed out error. Any ideas? I am going to try to update the firmware, I don't know if that will affect this or not, but I hope it fixes my problem with the powerup.

I will keep you posted.

Thanks again.

You won't see anything on screen prompting you to enter the passcode on the keyboard. After you hit the OK button and the passcode disappears is when you need to do it.

Easy:

Mac OS: Boot. Machine looks for keyboard and tells you as much. tells you it found the keyboard and pops up a password and tells you to type it and hit return. You're done.

Hello again. I followed the suggeston to type in the numbers while it was trying to pair, but to no avail. Any idea what I am doing wrong? Do I have a bad kb?

Don't type too soon!
Wait and then type!

Also, to get numbers you have to be holding the blue Fn key, and after you have typed the pin, press Enter

It seems the N800 should prompt you to enter the PIN on the device, but for some devices that would be wrong too: headsets, etc.
