Are there any decent emulators for the N800?

Topic. I'm looking for anything really, but a SNES one would be sweet.

For some reason, I think you might be wrong.

Maybe.

Re: Are there any decent emulators for the N800?

Hehehe! :p

I'm not really a game player, so my type of emulators run other operating systems like the Macintosh OS, DOS\Windows, Amiga, Linux, etc.

Arnim's site has most of those emulators, and a lot more, including some directions on installing them: http://pupnik.de/software.html

The other emulators that are not directly linked to can be installed via Maemo's Application Manager. I would just add all the repositories on the gronmayer site, then look through all the installable applications for the emulators like gngeo and xmame: http://gronmayer.com/it/index.php?lang=en&system=maemo4

If you have difficulting installing a particular emulator, you can ask for assistance here.

The hell is a repository.

Good question. Luckily, others have asked it in the past.

What the heck is a repository?

Alright then. So I download them, go in to the Application Manager, and search for the files I want?

Anything you would recommend in particular?

I tend to ask a lot of questions when I can't physically see something done. It lets me help other people later.

Re: Are there any decent emulators for the N800?

I spent maybe 30 hours on YouTube watching and rewatching over 100 videos about the N800 before I ordered my N800 and while I waited the 6 days for it to be delivered on January 7th 2008.

Neoncherry has an awesome website with many video tutorials devoted to teaching all about the N8x0: http://tabletschool.blogspot.com/ (Click here to view a full listing of all our tutorials organised by category)

Here's one about the Application Manager: Nokia N800: Finding and installing new applications and games

No problem pointing them out. Neoncherry did an unbelievable job. I just watched a tutorial on saving battery power and learned what offline mode was.

Re: Are there any decent emulators for the N800?

By the way, these would all work with an ROM, right? Nothing special?

Re: Are there any decent emulators for the N800?

Yes, I believe most game emulators require a ROM file.

Occassionally an emulator might need you to install some extra package (SDL, GTK+, etc.), but it should be taken care of automatically by the Application Manager.
