This might be of interest for you https://garage.maemo.org/projects/switchonbt/ I use it and it works fine for me. I added it as a command on the oss cpu applet and it is now just a click away.

Thanks for that, I was just about to post requesting that app - saw somebody else had it.

Works a charm - but would still like to see a combined wifi/bt icon on status bar which gave quick

1) Wifi on / off
2) BT on / off

With the icon remaining all the time.
