@tabletrat. openoffice.org *can* happily run without java, which is needed only for some database functions. In my experience, after a someway longish boot phase, it has good performances even on slow x86 processors and 256M ram, and without java. Also the screen presentation on the 800x480 NIT screen could be not bad, as you can see exporting your X session with openoffice.org from another machine to your tablet.
Here the problem is that ooo seems very difficult to build. There is indeed an armel build (search the forum) but doesn't work as is on my n810. In conclusion: we need a platoon of heroes to try this port. |
