Ah, yes, then search for and install the becomeroot package. After that - use

Code:

sudo gainroot

to umm... gain root :) Then proceed as planned.

Hint: Search for becomeroot in http://gronmayer.com/it

Thanks, that worked. One last question: is there any (possible) harm to come from being root, and should I change it back (and if so, how?). Thanks.

You're root only in xterm and only after you enable it. when you log out from xterm, you cease being root.
