rdesktop driving me nuts!
rdesktop has always has been fussy, but it really annoying me now. I have to rerun it countless times before it connects to any one of my 3 machines, and even when it does finally connect, it only last for a random amount of time. Since i reflashed to new os2008 recently, it;s been worse,am i the only one?
connectng to both vista/xp machines |
Re: rdesktop driving me nuts!
whats your power saving setting on the N8x0?
do you have problems with audio streams, like net radio? i have a router that do not like it when my N800 goes into power save, resulting in similar issues. i recall i had trouble connecting the ssh because of it for one thing. |
Re: rdesktop driving me nuts!
screen shuts down in 5mins,device at 10. Never had an issue with anything else u mentioned, and i have tried 2 routers

Re: rdesktop driving me nuts!
You're not the only one. I have the same exact issue. It can take up to 15 or so restarts before it finally connects.

Re: rdesktop driving me nuts!
rdesktop on OS 2008 is extremely unreliable. I am really surprised that nobody has done a polished RDP client for the NITs, as it seems like one of the more obvious killer apps. Instead, all the competent programmers are off working on some unplayable emulator for some random 15 year old gaming system or some such. I realize it is their time and all, but I for one would be willing to pay for a robust, feature rich RDP client.

Re: rdesktop driving me nuts!
I currently run RDP on 3 nokia 770s and one 880. I too would pay for a better program, one that prefribly would include remote sounds as well. I may be asking for much here but rdesktop is just a band aid in my opnion.

Re: rdesktop driving me nuts!
Which rdesktop are you using?
The GUI one from the repo's or pipelines's command line version? BTW: I don't use rdesktop at all. |
Re: rdesktop driving me nuts!
GUI version for me

Re: rdesktop driving me nuts!
You may want to try the cli version. Not sure which post of pipeline it is in but I hear it works better. But you will have to use command line though.

My experience has been- Version 0.4 is all kinds of buggy, does not work at all at 16bpp color depth a has weird issues, but integrates with the maemo ui better. Version 1.5 works well albiet, from the command line, But does not integrate with maemo afa fullscreen, minimize, etc... Both versions suffer on the n810 from a bug where Fn+Keypress does not translate to the remote desktop correctly. You must hold down the Fn key and type the second key twice, For example- On a remote host in notepad- Type- [Fn]+[Q] (should be '1', but nothing shows up. Sometimes a menu item is activated though?) Press and hold [Fn] and type [q]+[q] and '1' shows up in notepad... This bug has to do with which key events are sent to the remote and how they are sent. It is present in both versions. rdesktop is sending the raw keycodes for 'Fn'+<key> instead of holding them locally and sending the modified result... I'm looking at what it will take to patch. But 1.5 is more reliable for sure. Hope this helps, kernelpanic |
