skype getting video @ CITA? check link

http://www.techgadgets.in/tablet-pcs...april-at-ctia/

I think this is true. What is interesting is that thoughtfix in his blog asked us to follow cita and goes on to say that something really interesting other tthan the wimax is going to be on display!

It could be anything, though. Some odds, OTTOMH:
  1. N810 variant with WiMAX; such as N820i - and Diablo announce - 80%
  2. Another s/w partnership such as with Microsoft, Real or Skype - 60%
  3. Skype with video - 50%
  4. Media management s/w for Windows - 40%
  5. noBounds release - 30%
  6. Official USB dongle for use with noBounds - 20%
  7. PIM software - 15%
  8. Office software - 10%
  9. Java tie-in with Sun - 4%
  10. Another new device - 1%

Thoughts?

What I'm hoping:

1. Announcement of Mail for Exchange support on OS2008
2. Diablo
3. Skype with Video

What about Bluetooth stereo support? That's something that's been expected for a while as well. "Nokia supports Bluetooth Stereo!" probably won't make for a great headline, but oh well, it's a possibility =)

This is a quote from thoughtfix 's blog

" On a final note: I cannot personally attend CTIA to get the scoop on the products there, but am in direct contact with others on two different fronts regarding what is coming. No, I can't tell you about any of it. However, attendees to CTIA MUST check out Nokia's display. Whether or not there's a WiMAX tablet at the show, we'll still see something for which we've been waiting"

So what do you guys think is that something which we've been waiting?

Some most totally uninformed guesses then:

* Diablo (80%), but: with A2DP: 40%, OpenGL using hardware acceleration: 5%
* Enterprise features such as ActiveSync/Exchange support: 6%

It's interesting that thoughtfix mentions two fronts. WiMAX & Diablo? WiMAX & something else; Diablo & something else?

wimax is definitely coming sure. But is diablo something which we have been wanting a lot?

The ability to upgrade without reflashing, further improvements on the ever-increasing graph of coolness from ITOS 2005 to 2006 to 2007 to 2008?

Wanting a lot? Hell yeah.

Re: skype getting video @ CITA? check link

so....... the two upcoming attaractions at CITA are:

1. Wimax tablet with different specs in terms of cpu/ram
2. Diablo

I think we cracked the puzzle!

I dont think that the truemotion video codec from on2 technologies used by skype could be implemented considering the limited ressources the Nokia tablets have. This being said, on2 partnered with Texas instruments to bring a streamlined version of their codecs under the name hantro to the omap platform, the one used in the Nokia tablets, so that might work, when skype offers a new version of their PC software.

Much simpler would be to offer a google talk video client for PCs (and macs, linux, etc...), of course. H323 is a codec that works now...
