Phonelink 1.1.0 and Gnokii-GConf Applt 0.5.2
 

this new version should greatly help those who encounter problems configuring gnokii for phonelink : no more file editing needed !
Simply go to control panel and describe your phone (BT Address and model) you can even ask gnokii to identify your phone for you !

Please give it a try and tell me ...

Doesn't work here on E51 & N810, the error I get is: gn_gsm_initialize failed on "Identify phone". It appears as an information note. Any tips on fixing this or do I just have a too new phone?

you have to input the bluetooth address manually and the phone model

Sorry about that Gnokii-GConf 0.5.3 is out and should correct your problem (if it doesn't, try changing rfcomm channel to 1)

Already had the correct bluetooth address in the dialog :). But thanks anyway. Gotta try the newest Gnokii-GConf and see if it works.

Well I tried the newest too, I still get the gn_gsm_initialize, but with a touch: "Unknown error, well better than nothing" :). I changed the rfcomm address as well but I didn't notice any change in the configuration/functionality in phonelink.

Is E51 a Symbian S60 3rd gen phone ?
if so, you're out of luck : Gnokii supports only 2nd gen S60 phone through GNApplet ...

From what I gathered Nokia 5200 is a S40 phone : it should work ...
Have you try the identify button on the applet ?

I don't think gnokii supports WM but did you try with AT driver ?

I am currently testing my Nokia 6555(b) phone.
Dial out works. Notify for incoming call does not work. Phonelink complains that the driver does not support the phone model.
Settings:

Havent tried SMS as yet.
A little disappointed when I realized that my N810 doesnt behave like an audio gateway - but havent given up yet.

are you sure that gnokiirc file is used ?
check out in your NIT control panel : gnokii-gconf

It would be surprising if it were !
Gnokii was build to help communicate with nokia phone when the main OS was proprietary nokia (now known as S40) it was then extended to support more phone either via standard AT commands or with Symbian OS ...

I suppose we could interface with N900 via AT but I don't really see the point ... Maemo does better what phonelink did with gnokii
