Re: New port : TiEmu 2 (Screen rotation or real keyboard requiered)

Hi all,

I have been playing with this program for a bit but I still can't get the various functions to work (like sin). Did I read an earlier post right when it said that you actually have to own one of these calculators to be able to properly use the program. I have a ti-84 plus, can I use that?

Yann Benigot 2008-07-30 20:48

Re: New port : TiEmu 2 (Screen rotation or real keyboard requiered)

anpaza : I tried this (the recompiled package is here), but it didn't change anything on a simple test (drawing Y=cos(sin(x))). Thank you for trying to help :-)

GriNN : Do you use pedrom or a Ti-89/92/Voyager ROM ? Pedrom is good at running some applications designed for Ti m68k calculators, but not for calculus actually, even if its last versions are a lot faster on some calculus functions than the officials ROM. You have to own the calculator which you are using the ROM legally. So if you want to use a Ti-89 ROM, you may have a Ti-89 for example.
To get a calculator's ROM, you can use TiLP to download it from your calculator or you can download one from the web.

Uh... It seems that I can't download the package any more, I just get 404'd.

Re: New port : TiEmu 2 (Screen rotation or real keyboard requiered)

hey, i'm not really sure what i'm doing and i'd appreciate it if someone could help me with this.
i've got an n810 with diablo, and i tried to download and install tiemu 2 from http://maemo.org/downloads/product/OS2008/tiemu2/ , but it didn't work. it installed yann benigot's repository, but wouldn't continue the install because it said i was missing libticables, libticalcs, and libtifiles. i tried to download those from http://yannbng.free.fr/Maemo/repo
but it said 'incompatible application package.' also, sometimes it says that yann benigot's repository could not refresh (404 error or something).
one more thing: i have no idea how to get the rom file.
i would be eternally grateful if someone could show me how to do this right.

Edit: I finally got it figured out, but it wont graph or do anything besides basic stuff. any ideas how to fix this?

Re: New port : TiEmu 2 (Screen rotation or real keyboard requiered)

Note: I am still using Maemo Linux OS 2008 R2, not Diablo.

In case anyone is dealing with trying to get TiEmu working with different skins, you will notice that the actual ROM you are using determines what skins you can use with the emulator.

I was finally able to use the ROM dump from my TI-89 Titanium by downloading these skins (designed so that the bottom of the TI is on the right side), renaming "Ti89Hughes01.skn" to "ipaq_89t.skn", and moving it into the /usr/share/tiemu2 directory (requires root access).

BTW: I had to use TiLP2 to dump the ROM from the TI-89 Ti.

Now I can use TI-89 Ti programs on my N800, like the Calculus Tools.

Use this one instead.

Hrm, seems copying and pasting the link into the browser works better.

Both of the links work fine for me. (The second link is simply using http://anonym.to to surf anonymously to the first link.) Have you tried using a different computer and/or program? Can you go to http://www.ticalc.org/ ? Can you go to http://www.ticalc.org/pub/win/vtiskins/ ?

Re: New port : TiEmu 2 (Screen rotation or real keyboard requiered)

Ok, here's what happens: I can't download from the original link (which seems to have been changed now btw, to a html page instead) with 'wget'. Going through the anonym.to anonymizer doesn't work either, and in any case whenever a link fails to work for me I always also try through a torproxy to remove any issues with my local firewall.

However, it works if I go to the web page, and then to the download section and downloads from there. I think the site is doing some magic to allow downloads when you visit the mother page first, but disallows a direct link.

My proxy logs:
Request: www.ticalc.org/pub/win/vtiskins/dummyskin89.zip
which is the download via the web page. Now I use the same link, but with curl (just the headers in this case):
>curl -I http://www.ticalc.org/pub/win/vtiskins/dummyskin89.zip
HTTP/1.0 403 Forbidden

Anyway, I got it downloaded now.

Re: New port : TiEmu 2 (Screen rotation or real keyboard requiered)

Heh! Texas Instruments has the various latest ROM "updates" for their current calculators on their website. I'm sure others here know it, but I didn't know you can download them for
FREE
and use them with TiEmu!

As it has a full keyboard and lots of memory, here's the Voyage 200 ROM.

As the default V200 skin looks like the actual calculator (cheap), I used SkinEdit to make a TI-92 Plus skin (for iPaq) into a Voyage 200 skin. I then renamed it to ipaq_00plt.skn and put it into /usr/share/tiemu2/skins.

http://fkwjcw.bay.livefilestore.com/...tiemunv200.png

(BTW: I got a job doing calculus homework all day :p, so I've been using TiEmu a lot! :D)

I can't seem to get it to go into full screen mode. Could someone give me a tip please?

Re: New port : TiEmu 2 (Screen rotation or real keyboard requiered)

For those who are interested: i was not able to install this from the repositories on N900 but downloading all the packages locally and using dpkg did the trick.

The voyager doesn't seem to work, even after renaming the skin.

The 92+ seems to work fine _but_ the lower line of keys goes out of screen, since fullscreen mode apparently works differently in Fremantle.

If this glitch could be fixed, we would have a virtual ti92+ running at probably the same speed of the real one, only in a much smaller space.

Re: New port : TiEmu 2 (Screen rotation or real keyboard requiered)

oh, i've just noticed that I already have installed the skinedit program on my laptop :-D

I guess it's gonna be my really-really-really-part time project to scale the skin (yes, full screen would be an option but i actually prefer to have the task switcher available).

Re: New port : TiEmu 2 (Screen rotation or real keyboard requiered)

Those .install links have been broken for awhile.

Download the .debs from http://yannbng.free.fr/Maemo/repo/dists/chinook/
and dpkg -i libtifiles* then dpkg -i libticables* then dpkg -i libticalcs* and finally dpkg -i tiemu2* (order matters for dependencies).

Load the the ROM (.89u perhaps) and skin (the default requires screen rotated; http://www.ticalc.org/pub/win/vtiskins/ try the widescreen ones like ultskin89 for landscape)

Also in landscape mode sometimes the file browser shows no skins (and doesn't work manually either), just rotate to portrait and it sees /usr/share/tiemu2/skins again. Strange bug.

igor: Did you ever find a fix to display the whole ti92+ screen on the n900? Thanks.

hi guys

i've designed this skin for ti-voyage os. just copy the skin to this address (usr/share/tiemu2/skins) and enjoy of running the voyage on your n900.

you can download the latest voyage os from here:

I installed TIEmu2 a few months ago, and I need to reinstall due to an unrelated reflash (n900). The install link is not working. Anyone know where else this could be? (Not in any of the extras/testing/devel catalogs.)

Thanks!

Re: New port : TiEmu 2 (Screen rotation or real keyboard requiered)

Got it. I contacted Yann and he set me straight:

"...the package files for tiemu can be found here :
http://yannbng.free.fr/Maemo/repo/di.../binary-armel/ .
You can install them manually if you know how to do so (http://talk.maemo.org/showpost.php?p...7&postcount=58).
..."

BTW: Doing this works on the N900 (he wasn't sure it would).

Thanks again!

Re: New port : TiEmu 2 (Screen rotation or real keyboard requiered)

everything works fine for me. I have just one question, when i had my N810 and used TiEmu 2, i was able to save the state of the calculator, and to send files from the file manager to the calculator so i can install new apps to the calculator, my question is: Where is the option so i can do the same things on the n900?i cant find any options, not even the main program (TiEmu) options are available at the top of the window.

Re: New port : TiEmu 2 (Screen rotation or real keyboard requiered)

Hi

I recompiled tiemu to fix the menu and fullscreen problem with the N900.
I have made a new binary where the left key is fullscreen mode and right key gives the options menu.

To use this binary there are two things todo.

1. copy binary (overwrite old one) to:

/usr/bin/

and maybe make it executable with chmod

2. move files or make a symlink

/usr/share/tiemu2 to /usr/local/share/tiemu2

I don't know why but otherwise the files could not be found.

Tiemu2-2.08_binary_n900

enjoy

TiEmu 3.03 for N900 with fullscreen support

Beta port of Tiemu 3.03

Now I compiled the new version for N900 and made some debs (maemo 5 sdk) .
This is the first time I made some package so I had massive problems to build them spend more time as for porting and in the end I would say the dependencies are broken. But when you install all debs it should work.
You dont need to uninstall tiemu2.
Tiemu 3 short cut is in category science like Almost Ti.

I installed them in this order:

libticonv_1.1.2-1_armel.deb
libtifiles2_1.1.4-1_armel.deb
libticables2_1.3.2-1_armel.deb
libticalcs2_1.1.6-1_armel.deb
tiemu_3.03-1_armel.deb

All files can be found here only put the names at the end of the address (sorry as a new member I can't make so many links):
http://www.setius.net/downs/tiemu/

Please feel free to check out the new version.
Any feedback or proposal for improvements are welcome.
