What to call the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet - WiMAX Edition? N810W or N810WE

So, now that the N810 with WiMAX has more or less been officially announced (and they decided not to give us a new model number), what do we call it?

Personally, I'd go for N810W (WiMAX), as it's one less letter to type, but N810WE (WiMAX Edition, as proposed by Jaffa) works for me too.

Nokia N800 WiMAX.

Because Acronyms of Acronyms is like Nerd of Nerds.

I don't understand why they would simply shove WiMax into an N810, and then, to even more so confuse and aggravate people, not even bother to designate to it a new name.

I agree with HellToupee, they should call it the N830 and be done with it.

Well, that's an issue you need to take up with Nokia, and not related to determining an easy-to-use acronym for what we've got. :p

They should call it the WIMaxNokia N810, and shorten it to WIMN.
It's proven that WIMN attract men with money.

As we aren't talking about an official name, I propose the W810. No more characters to type than before, and expandable.

3G N810 = G810

Are you going to have to pay extra for the Wimax service cause if so doesnt seem that much worth it.

It's just like any other cellular data service.

Weird. Well then Texrat lied to us back in the thread where we were guessing the name of the WiMax tablet. At the time he said:

a current guess had NOT been made! No wonder we never guessed the current name. :mad:

I was the first to guess N810+WiMax which was pretty close, and I also put N810w as very likely in my carefully thought out list of possible names. No thanks to you Texrat.

One thing I like about Sprint's Xohm WiMax service is that there won't be contracts.

Other services offer wireless Internet, but they usually lock you in with contracts and cancellation fees that keep your experience on their terms. As a Xohm member, you’ll get wireless broadband access on yours:
By the day or by the month
No binding contracts
No cancelation fees
Simple activation and reactivation

N810WE should be OK, but we need to make sure we leave room for all the other editions we need Nokia to produce:

N810BK = Better Keyboard edition
N810HR = Hi Resolution Camera edition
N810SD = Full size SD card slot x2 edition
N810VA = 3D Video Acceleration edition
N810PO = Full PIM suite and Office editing edition

and not forgetting...

N810GS = Onboard GSM SIM card edition! (:rolleyes:)

Of course we're in trouble if they bring out a version with all of these together..

Well, unfortunately, it's not really up to us to name it, is it? But, since the n810 was basically a modified n800, might as well call it an n830, right? Stay consistent, I say.

That's 31 guesses. I think it's safe to say that it starts with N8* so that leaves only 16 possible options. If we cut out the repetitive ones we get down to about 7-9, and once we elimate the ones Texrat already said weren't right, that only leaves about 4 or so options. :rolleyes:

N810MD = Mini DVI Edition

Or better:

Re: What to call the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet - WiMAX Edition? N810W or N810WE

As GeneralAntilles says, we know the official name is "Nokia N810 WiMAX Edition". Any suggestions of "N830" or similar are just ridiculous, there's no way on Earth we should call it that as a community: there's no guarantee it won't conflict with the next tablet (if one is produced).

N810W seems to be the winner. The extra letter for "Edition" isn't needed to disambiguate it, the chances of any other N810 variants are slim (I'd put money on that, at least).

Is it such an effort to write 'Wimax n810' until Nokia comes with an official name? It is almost out for release.

What do you have against an abbreviation, anyway? :\
