Personally, I disagree. :p Windows doesn't have easy access to the wide range of Linux software out there. ;)

Your point may have been accurate with pre-OS X releases, but OS X really changed all that.

Dude. I was speaking MUCH more broadly than merely OS. But sorry if that bit of generalizing risks spawning a tangent. ;)

My apologies, I assumed you meant the OS as you said "Windows". :p ;)

And what any of this has to do with the sorry state of development and QA at Nokia still escapes me.

Yeah, but the Windows ecosystem is more than just the OS.

The realistic definition of the personal computer landscape is Mac and Everyone Else-- the largest part of the latter being Windows-oriented stuff.

Maybe I should have used the old "IBM compatible" terminology? ;) :p

Much like your relentless moaning does me.

Seriously, can't you return or sell it?

Are you some kind of "spy" from Nokia? What does it help to intimidade others?

Ideology doesn't win marketshare in my point of view. :)

You are really, really reading me wrong, man.

But I respect your feelings and don't see any purpose in making you feel uncomfortable so I'll just beg off further participation in this thread ok?

Hey Brontide! I'm a Firefox user and fan since version 0.8, and I more or less follow Mozilla's steps since then. Mozilla's QA, in my point of view, was one of the responsible for Firefox to become what it is today. I don't know anything about Nokia's QA tough.

Tex, you don't "hurt" anyone's feelings... It's just that... Well, I am a noob, you guys are the most important members in this forum. But when someone wants to help, be it either addressing any flaw or showing the best of the ITs, why not just keep the line or show the workarounds?

Nokia won't lose any customer if we discuss it here. But if we hide it from customers, that's when Nokia will lose the customer: the one who bought and didn't like it at all...

As I know it was discussed too many times before, I don't want to annoy you still more with this.

Those are appliances. The Internet tablets are general purpose computing devices. That's a significant difference.

Had Nokia gone a different direction and locked the tablets down, I suspect we'd have seen a higher level of polish on the bundled apps. However, it would also be a less interesting and successful product line.

I fail to see how allowing third party installs negates Nokia's obligation to release a firmware that lives up to the technical specs listed on the box.
