@Lord Raiden: Well, the control side is not that much different from configuring a network printer via it's http interface... I think the sequencer manufacturer saves a lot of expense by not having to put an external control panel on the device. If it is any kind of a piece of high tech equipment, and it just sits in one place when in use, then an ethernet port is all the control panel hardware required. It just seems a bit counter-intuitive that it takes wifi and a handheld to bring the machine and the "start" button back together to the same physical location. The wifi availability of results while wandering around the lab, not tying up a workspace with a single controlling computer for more than one sequencer, plus other lab tasks, is something I'm sure the manufacturer didn't forsee. But again, maybe they thought "one day, people will use this machine through their blackberry/iphone", I donno.

btw my n810 it somwhere between Huntsville, AL and my post office here in Philadelphia, PA...sent it in for repair and now iI am waiting on a most likely refurbished one with scratches n crap :( mine was mint...only had it for a week or so...

My 770 was in my car this morning running Maemo Mapper and using my high-class Amod ABG 108 bluetooth GPS. :D
(Yes, the $19.99 GPS special mentioned elsewhere in these forums). |
