Does OS2008 support the MicroB browser?

I don't want to get stuck with something that doesn't work and have to be forced into a reflash again.

Re: Does OS2008 support the MicroB browser?

MicroB is the default browser for OS2008. . . .

I take everything back. Apparently my employer IS doing a bad job communicating the specs...

LOL. It's ok Rezi. After spending 4 days in a timezone 8 hours ahead of home, I'm not thinking clearly, either! :D

But...ummm... isn't Microb Mozilla-based?

Texrat, I've been meaning to ask: in light of the usual usage, shouldn't your location be:

/handbasket/hell ??

See, e.g., Wikipedia.

oh, come on!

how difficult can we be?

I am guessing the original poster is asking about the new Mozilla Mobile Browser. Fennec?

(but I could be wrong!?)

Are you referring to the browser which is based on Firefox 3 code which is supposed to be 6 times faster than the included browser?

I'm not being difficult, I honestly don't know what he's talking about and what the question is about. :)

I actually think my path was correct: the handbasket is in hell, and I am in the handbasket. Or should I expand it:

/hell/handbasket/texrat

Really, it should be (Edit: ****, brontide beat me to it a whole page ago. :<):

Code:

sudo mv ./handbasket/texrat /hell

then why do you post so much in a thread that you know so little about? Not even asking the OP to make it clearer or even trying to make a guess at what they could mean?

What's with the attitude? There's no need to get snippy over such a small thing. Chill out, man!

out of all these posts, the only useful ones were by nilchak, and also the one by peterjb31
the rest by you, brontide, Texrat, GeraldKo and me have been a waste of time.

The whole damn thread is useless, I'm not sure why you feel the need to bring the attitude in here and ruin any fun that might've been gotten out of it. :\

Besides, based on my understanding of the OP's (incredibly unclear) question, I'd say my first post was plenty useful, and, really, we've yet to hear anything back from the OP that could validate the usefulness of any of the posts made. Wont you feel like a jerk if it turns out he meant something completely completely different from whatever you think he means? ;)

Depends on what time of year you go. Winter tends to be pretty bad.

Re: Does OS2008 support the MicroB browser?

Yeah, I thought so too. I just want to know whether or not either of them is going to screw up my N800 with 2008. I know the browser on the Maemo site said that it was for OS2007, which is why I haven't downloaded either.

Bundyo 2008-04-16 21:23

Re: Does OS2008 support the MicroB browser?

OS2008 comes with MicroB preinstalled, no need to update it (it updates with the OS, so next one in Diablo). The 6x browser is an experimental mobile GUI for Firefox which won't screw any of your browsers but won't be stable either :)

OS2007 has an Opera based browser

OS2008 is Mozilla based

if you prefer opera then, yes, it will screw up your N800

if you like the default one in OS2008 then it won't. Its a personal thing.

Rezigrene 2008-04-16 21:25

Re: Does OS2008 support the MicroB browser?

Yeah, well. It IS the internet.

mrklaw 2008-04-16 21:35

Re: Does OS2008 support the MicroB browser?

I think the confusion was caused by the lack of updates on the http://browser.garage.maemo.org/ page.
OS2008 comes with MicroB which is based on Mozilla.
the install instructions on the page listed above were for people on OS2007 that wanted to try out MicroB.
There are further mozilla-based browsers in the works which purport to be faster than MicroB, but they are not stable yet.

I am confused. I didn't say anything about Rezigrene. I was trying to help him. I was making comments about how 'unhelpful' GA started off in this thread and about how others took it off topic and I was making a guess as to what the OP might mean.

In my sleep deprived state yesterday, my posts do look rather uncharacteristic though :(

So, after 12 good hours sleep I feel much better now :) I will stay away from posting when lacking sleep in the future :D
