That's my point. I have some very good and well tested routes from my old garmin 45. It would be nice to load them into Maemo Mapper, which then would be usefull also for off road navigation.

Does gps work when you're scuba diving? That is, do the satelite signals penetrate water?

No, they don't penetrate water. A few millimeters of water will completely block the signals. The water in your hand will block the signals.

If you sail on Finnish waters, Maemo Mapper and topomaps work nicely:

Of course you do it on your own risk as officially topomaps are not sea charts.
