I have to tell everyone about my trip. I had a five hour drive this friday. I really hate radio and there are so many dead spots along the trip. BUT there are plenty of SPRINT towers. I recently downloaded vagalume. Before now, my experience with internet radio has been little to none. I paired my n800 with my new blackberry 8830. wow! There were occasional drop outs which i will handle with content on sd card, but not a single commercial and I was exposed to bands I had never heard before but really enjoyed.

My cable to plug the n800 into to aux jack was not shielded well, so here is the real question, can I pair the n800 with the bb and a nokia BH-500 at the same time? I won't have to worry about noise coming out of the 800 and i can leave it in the bag.

BTW I kept everything charged off of an inverter and a power strip. Looks ghetto. but worked great.

This post was typed on my n800. I am still getting used to the keypad... The bulk I wrote with the screen thumbpad. The edits were made with the stylus.

I love this device, but desparately need a bt keyboard, then i will get the n810.

The Internet tablets happily work with multiple Bluetooth devices simultaneously. For instance, many folks have used their tablets with Bluetooth GPS units while pulling data over Bluetooth connection to phones and typing on Bluetooth keyboards. Connecting to both a phone and headphones should be no problem.

However, the BH-500 headphones want the A2DP Bluetooth profile, and support for that on the tablets is currently...limited. Nokia has not yet provided A2DP support, and while the community has developed stopgap solution until they (hopefully) do, that solution only works with certain media players and devours both battery and processor power. (Search the fora for "A2DP" for more information.)

With the next release of the Internet Tablet OS, Nokia may be including A2DP support. The release is codenamed "Diablo" and folks in the fora have just discovered a way of getting their hands on it early. They'll likely posting messages soon that begin to explore the additions and changes Diablo will bring, so keep a look out to see if official A2DP support will be coming soon.

EDIT: Okaaay. It appears A2DP won't be coming with Diablo.

Looks like I need a good shielded cable... Is A2DP something some brilliant young geek could write (port) for 2008? I dont like to talk about it, but my last phone was, gasp, a WM5 mobile, and I downloaded A2DP ffor it...

For what it is worth, the battery reqs for A2DP do not scare me because I have means of charging them in the car...

Brilliant, young geeks have made A2DP work on OS2008. What they've come up with is the battery- and processor-eating option I mentioned previously. I haven't tried it myself--stereo sound stopped being compatible with me just as I was considering purchasing Bluetooth headphones--but it's available, and you can search the fora for "A2DP" to learn more.

I believe some very clever folks are currently working on a way to move the processor intensive work A2DP requires off the CPU and onto the DSP. I'm curious to see how that goes.

Yes, that sounds appropriate. But until then I just bought a shielded cable that virtually eliminated the noise. I am quite happy now.

BTW, I consider geek a badge of honor. I hope no one takes offense when I use it. Geek means never having to say, "Would you like fries (chips to our friends in the UK) with that order?"

i think os2008 now has built in support for headsets. ive yet to test it out though. my h700 broke. it should work with no hacking and shouldnt take up as much cpu.

Yes, OS2008 certainly supports Headset Profile (HSP), so the BH-500 headset garciajj mentioned will certainly work with no extra effort. However, as HSP only supports low quality, mono audio, sound through the BH-500 will be disappointing when using it.

I simply wished to let garciajj know the current status of Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP)--which is what the BH-500 needs to shine--before he/she dropped money on it.

Clearly off topic I know--and I plan to do a search soon for this--but if you know of any quick and dirty guides to what's involved in pairing the sprint 8830, I'd love to know about them...

Have you tried already and run into trouble? Several posters have reported it's an easy pairing (1) (2) (3). Are you simply researching ahead of a purchase?

Thanks sjgadsby. I have an NIT currently using Yodude's iDen solution. But my wife has an 8830 for work, and I was thinking of using that once in a while for precisely the functionality you mentioned. But I hadn't really looked into what the pairing requires and whether her work would object due to some fee that might be assessed if I do this. So I was just fishing for your experience.

I'll do a full-fledged search of my own soon.
