Boost Volume on N800
HI, I have been searching on the forum and I don't find an answer to my problem,
I like to listen music while I am at the bus or the street, but there is so much noise, and I can't listen to anything in the n800 while I am in the street. So my question is, is there a way that can I boost the volume? is there any mp3 player for the N8x0 that can do this? waiting for some replies. |
Re: Boost Volume on N800

Re: Boost Volume on N800
I can suggest using mplayer to raise the volume.
http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=18163 But mplayer is not really what you need. Possibly other apps like canola have a config file that will let you do the same thing? |
Re: Boost Volume on N800
Xmms will let you do this, I think.
And mplayer can be used to play mp3s; I think kagu lets you use mplayer as a backend for mp3s. (It helps WRT BT audio, IIRC). |
Re: Boost Volume on N800
Use equalizer via XMMS and put the equalizer all wavelength +10 db, provided your device, either your headphone or the N8x0 speakers do not have too much distortion

Re: Boost Volume on N800
There's also the pre-amp, don't forget the preamp...
If you weren't deaf enough to need it up all the way, you will be in 5 minutes... (But really, I have used that for playing horribly quiet things in the past; now I just use mp3gain, and you should too. :p) |
Re: Boost Volume on N800
any way to apply any of this to the system sounds...
|
Re: Boost Volume on N800
Well, you could replace the system sounds with louder ones. But they get annoying, and in some cases performance-injuring... just say no to system sounds. ;) I turn off touch-screen sounds, and leave the rest on loud.

Re: Boost Volume on N800
i just would like to be able to hear the incoming message chime better where could i find the preamp...and i kinda remember mp3gain..

Re: Boost Volume on N800
Canola can be configured to use mplayer for music, I'm using it with softvol-max=150 and i can say that i need to tune my volume down, 'cause my headphones can't take it :)

Re: Boost Volume on N800
There is no pre-amp. Some players have a control labeled pre-amp; that typically designates a software volume control. This is not effective on any sounds coming from any source other than that player.
If you want to increase the volume of the sound played by your mail program, you'll need to figure out where it's stored, make it louder (e.g. sox) and replace the original file with the loud version. |
Re: Boost Volume on N800
actually been hunting....found ./sounds....dumped it to my pc.using emelfm2 (love that program)..trying to make em louder...one at a time...got the alarm louder...thanks for the mp3 gain...had to do that for the ipaq back in the day

Re: Boost Volume on N800
Thanks everybody for your answers.
OK, I did the boost volume for the Mplayer, works perfectly, but, I use the default Media player on the n800, any idea where is the config file to test it?? Or the canola config file??? |

Re: Boost Volume on N800
Over there, I pointed what looks (to someone without canola, after only a brief forum scan) like the right direction.
Confirmation/rejection by anyone who knows would be very nice. |
Re: Boost Volume on N800
rafaelfucho another bit of software you might want to find is dbpoweramp
