I pretty much take the N800 anywhere except the shower. I did actually try playing music in the shower by putting it in a ziplock bag, but the stress factor of wondering about leaks outweighed the relaxation of Steve Hillage.

try this:

i got one right now, as i plan to carry my N800 in this:
http://www.urbantool.com/index_en.ph...h_function.htm

(that big back pocket net area)

when it becomes to hot to hide this:
http://www.urbantool.com/index_en.ph...h_function.htm

under a shirt or jacket (and thats what i do right now to bring my N800 just about everywhere outside of the house).

Looks good. I'm not sure how well that holster would work with a business suit, but I'd be willing to risk it.

In the shower, I don't think you would even need to bag the N800; those things are built right... but no, I'm not fool enough to try it, either.

Oh, and of course I carry it everywhere. Call me when there's a $200 800x480 smartphone, and I might be interested. Especially if it has a genuine UNIX environment.

Yes. I am taking my n800 everywhere.

Re: Do you take your IT everywhere?

I took it everywhere even before it replaced my MP3 player, but especially after -- that started as "I guess I'll use the tablet as a MP3 player until my real MP3 player gets back from being fixed" and became a permanent habit thanks to iriver's 3 month repair time and how useful it is; I can listen to songs AND hear when someone sets off my highlight on IRC. ;)

I liked the N800, but the N810's slightly smaller form factor and keyboard somehow made it into a must-bring companion as opposed to something I like to have if a chance to read might come up.

It's helped me remember my phone more often, too. I've thought, "okay, now to connect and check my RSS feeds" while heading out the door only to realize I had left my phone inside the house several times.

I take the tablet with me only when on small trips or commuting on bus or plane. With the weather getting warmer, I don't have the benefit of jacket pockets.

There's a solution to the question of having a tablet or smartphone: Buy both and be poor! The browser on my N95 works great when I don't have the tablet with me.

No, I drag it out every week or so, but its a secondary device for me.

Re: Do you take your IT everywhere?

Yeah me and my tablet have been pretty inseparable :)

it's saved my butt a couple of times, letting me pull handouts and worksheets in the few minutes before class starts. it's also been great for listening to music in the car and watching tv shows when i've got a few minutes at work.

probably the most innapropriate use has been my constant use of my NIT in class :P

posted from my N810 during history class

Re: Do you take your IT everywhere?

I take it everywhere as it is good for "field work" when I don't want to haul the 7 lb work laptop around. Plus, there are so many adjunct uses that it is almost silly to not carry IT!

You should set aside one night a week not to bring it to bed with you. :p

Hey, don't give him bad advice -- the IT is a lot less intrusive than a laptop for situations like this.

Re: Do you take your IT everywhere?

Since nobody answered the question about the smartphone:

I used a N80 and now a e51. Both are smartphones and the N80 has actually better specs for internet usage than the N95 (higher screen resolution, for example). I can't find from the specs how the N95 does more than the e51. And I tested the N95 camera and, even with pixel count, it is not as good as the camera from the N80.

The phone is very convenient as a phone, as a modem for the N810, as a snapshot, low-quality camera, as a calendar (it synchronises with my mac), and even as an Internet radio.

Browsing the web, writing e-mail are much, MUCH better on the N810. So I take it anywhere too.

(You can browse the web or use e-mail on the e51, BTW. The browser is actually good for such a small screen. It is just that the screen is simply too small.)

for me the n800 is a small ultra portable laptop. as an example :I take it with me if I have to go the the medical center with the kids. The n800 will be the portable entertainment center, playing some Dora-the-explorer or winnie the pooh video when the kids are not using sketch to draw primitive faces or something else. Then if I'm stuck at the hospital with them, I can "steal" some wifi from a neighbour while I stand next to a window and the kid is sleeping. I take it in camping as most places offer free wifi service... for the rainy days.

It is usually with me, lately however if I have jobs in a particularly bad neighborhood, I will leave it at home.

Re: Do you take your IT everywhere?

My n800 goes everywhere with me, as does my Zaurus, my palm t3 and my Ixus digicam.

I use my n800 as a voip phone, to monitor emails, as mp3 player, rss reader, web browser, internet radio player etc etc.

I have no problem using it at work because one of my roles is security manager! Sometimes I visit our ISP colo facility and use it to send messages to colleagues back in the office, much easier than breaking out my laptop, and with the noise there you can't really use a phone!

Tablet goes everywhere. I just hate when people come up and ask me what it is. "Is that an iPhone, dude?"

UGHHHH~ Then I explain that it is an internet tablet. And they want one because I am usually playing Pokemon while waiting for stuff

(Yes, I get the question from nerds and band geeks most often, ergo the love of Pokemon games :p)

I would never leave my Tuxy at home ;)

Yes, I've been taking it to school more often. I always get the exact same thing- "Dude, what is that?" The first thing they ask is if it's a phone. NOOO. That annoys the hell out of me.
-btw, Aisu, which pokemon? :D

Re: Do you take your IT everywhere?

Well, I usually play Yellow, but Emerald as well :D

Rofl, Now using iTablet would be hilarious...

Never leaves my side. I usually leave/forget my mobile. Not so the N800.

Re: Do you take your IT everywhere?

It take my N810 everywhere, including places where I don't expect to use it:) I keep mine in my briefcase but have it out to check email or play Numpty whenever I have a spare minute. Last thing before I go to sleep, too:rolleyes:
