[Updated] Large Statusbar Clock

I have released a new version (0.7-2) of Large Statusbar Clock to the garage page (https://garage.maemo.org/projects/statusbarclock/)

This version is now officially renamed. All the files and references are now "large-statusbar-clock" instead of "statusbar-clock." This is to avoid confusion with the (original and now available for OS2008) "statusbarclock." Confusingly, our garage pages have the opposite names.

Besides the rename, there are two feature changes. First, it is now possible to disable alarms completely. This is different from just not using alarms, as before the application had to poll at every update to see if any alarms were set. If you disable alarms, this polling no longer happens. This should help people who have desktop resets that seem to be caused by Large Statusbar Clock.

The second change is a better way to select colours. You are no longer limited to a small list of colour names, and can choose any hexadecimal colour using the colour selection button.

If there are no problems reported with this today, I will upload this package to maemo extras so it will be available through the application manager.

Note: installing this version removes the previous "statusbar-clock" version, when applicable, so you will need to re-select the plugins from the control panel.

EDIT: This package is now available as "large-statusbar-clock" in the maemo extras repository for chinook. There is also a download page with a one click install at: http://maemo.org/downloads/product/O...tatusbarclock/

Nice to have the LSBC back on my desktop; I've missed it. I'll watch over the weekend and give my feedback, too.

Hej fiferboy, thanks for the very nice application. Could I have a wish? Could you replace https with http in the original post, so even people without account on maemo can use links easily? (mostly the download link is imporant)

El Amir, I agree that it is probably not useful to have super large font sizes selectable but I don't know of anyway to limit the selection using GtkFontSelection. I think it will just have to be up to users not to select a humongous font size ;)

Has anyone experienced any problems with this build? I am hoping disabling the alarm will fix everyone's desktop crashes. If so, I will look into why the crashes happen in the first place.

Does it hurt anything to use a huge font? As long as everything works (technically speaking), and you can change it back, it would seem ******ed to limit it.

What if, e.g. someone sets the DPI to 40 (for reasons known only to themselves), and still wants their clock...
