N800 video call to Windows PC - Google Talk

I can make calls to PC using google talk using N800, but it doesn't support video. Does anyone software for windows that will support video calls to/from N800?

I've used Gizmo with varying success.

download x-lite http://www.counterpath.com/13 and set up 2 SIP accounts with a voip provider like voipbuster.com (free accounts).

I use it fine with my mac, pc and n800 (using the built-in application with an SIP account)

I have tried Gizmo, but that doesn't work that well. The voice and video is both choppy. Also, there is noticable delay with the voice. I will try out x-lit.

Re: N800 video call to Windows PC - Google Talk

I got sip2sip.info SIP accounts. They work fine with x-lite, and got it setup on N800. Thanks for info. Works much better than Gizmo!

I got one more question though, how heck do I delete contacts from N800 Internet call app? I don't see any option in the menu.

I think you can just keep pressing the stylus over the name and you should get a delete option. I will check tomorrow. Yeah, I agree with the X-lite comment. It works great.

Would be great if there was a flash based SIP phone with video -- then we might be able to just send a web link to people and communicate with the tablets.

I tried x-lite with a voipbuster account to connect video calls to the N800. The best thing I noticed was the N800 CPU was only 50%; when using Gizmo CPU was all always 100%.

Video quality was on par with Gizmo.

Re: N800 video call to Windows PC - Google Talk

I am new to all this - would really appreciate some more info on how to set this up.

I want this to work with my N800 and a Mac

I acquired 2 SIP accounts via voipbuster

I have installed x-lite on the mac

Now what??

I was able to download x-lite on the N800 (x-lite_install.tar.gz 2MB) but couldn't figure out how to install it.

Help please !!

I don't think you want to try X-Lite on the N800. Like someone said in this thread, use the built-in SIP client on the N800. In the menu it's called "Internet Call". Setup your VoipBuster account in there as a SIP account:

username@sip.voipbuster.com
Authentication user name: username
Auto-detect STUN: Yes

Those settings work for me; I got them from some step-by-step guide, possibly on here or youtube.

Gizmo accounts are just SIP accounts too. I have Gizmo connected to my Internet Call via my Gizmo 10-digit number (1747...) Has anyone tried X-lite on a PC connecting with their Gizmo account on the N800 via the built-in Internet Call?

I hadn't yet but just tried by dialing 1747#######@proxy01.sipphone.com from X-Lite and it didn't go through. I could be doing that wrong, though. Does it work for you?

What I have done is add both VoipBuster and Gizmo accounts to the built-in Internet Call application. I do both because outgoing calls to landlines are allowed by VoipBuster, and inbound calls are allowed by Gizmo -- both for free. To clarify, my GrandCentral number gets forwarded to Gizmo so I get my own inbound number that way.

But back to your question, I use 2 VoipBuster accounts for video calls between the PC and N800. Same network = better connection?

Hey guys, I've got a little problem.

I've made 2 SIP accounts (sip2sip and sipphone) and cannot use them on my n800, I can't connect. gtalk account works fine. Both SIPs work fine on PC (x-lite).

some screenshots of my N800 configuration avalible at http://oli.yoyo.pl/sip/

rozłączony -> disconnected
błąd sieci -> network error

Any ideas? thanks in adv.

Re: N800 video call to Windows PC - Google Talk

Hello,

This is my first post in maemo.org - Talk. I have had a 2nd hand N800 in use for a week.

When trying to set up in the native Internet Call application a sip2sip account, I am receiving network registration error. I have tried with several options without success so far and have not yet found precise documentation in that regard.

My Internet Call account settings are:

-- Approx. English-GB translated terms --

Account configuration - Username
Username: XXXXXXX@sip2sip.info
Password: XXXXXXX
Use for PSTN calls: No

Advanced settings:
Conection tab:
- Transport: Automatic
- Outbound proxy: Empty (have used the sip2sip one too: proxy.sipthor.net)
- Port: 5060
- Detect public address: Yes
- Mechanism...: Automatic
- Frequence...: 0

Authentication tab:
- Username for authentication: XXXXXXX@sip2sip.info (have tried without the Domain/Realm part too)
- Password: XXXXXXX

STUN tab:
- Automatic STUN detection: Yes
- STUN server: Empty
- STUN port: 3478

--

Any tips/help in how to enable a sip2sip account for Internet video calls would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
