Ironically, the thread that triggered it all is actually a very poor example of the "prick" behavior sondjata is complaining about. In fact, when the details are examined, it could possibly make... um.. someone else look a bit of a fool. :o

It was specifically hacked to stream video from the camera over the Internet (which, by the way, is very exciting for me).

This is all important context, because the VLC being discussed currently in that thread is unrelated to the VLC at the beginning of the thread, and it is fairly obvious when reading the posts on the last few pages that this isn't the same VLC and it isn't for general consumption.

Perhaps we should have moved our conversation to another, new thread, with a new title and lots of warnings and context to let people know what was going on. But I personally think the "search the thread, I'm not going to give you the link" comment that generated this outburst was not entirely off-base in this case. Some reading and research should have been done here.

I also think that starting a thread with this title is somewhat inappropriate.
