Re: mCalendar

let user choose where place toolbar

I found a bug in mCalendar 0.4.6 - it doesn't show national aplhabets in alarm message - if I typed message in national language then it shows only "%s signal" instead of message (but latinic message works well)

which one is latest version of mCalendar? I don't see any tracking on it's Web page

and I suggest make signal window bigger to show all entire message cause it can be long - but now just only 3-5 begining words are visible

Hello all,
Does anybody know where mcalendar saves agendas.
I sync the wrong calendar for a year, I need to delete a full year off events.
I did try to uninstall and install the app twice, but the old agendas are saved in a directry somewhere.

any idea where?

find / | grep [expr]

where [expr] is something in the filename.

I know this is not the right thread for this discussion but:

I would replace 'hide' with 'use' ... it sounds more positive ;)
For me, modern computers are fast enough and there's a lot of space in RAM and on HDD. It is very easy to develop new software without inventing the wheel over and over again

All that did was list a set off directors.

here is how I used the command.....
find / | grep [mcalendar]

So if anybody knows which directory mcalendar saves data in, it would help me out.

Re: mCalendar

i think you should use something like:

find / -name mcalendar

briand 2008-12-17 00:12

Re: mCalendar

I think I suggested that already, tso. ;)

to the original poster:
the reason why your `find` listed out a bunch of stuff is probably because you typed the command incorrectly. There should be a pipe symbol (the shifted character on the key above your <Enter>/<Return> key) between the `find` and the `grep mcalendar` . In any case, don't worry about it... it wasn't necessary to type that anyway, as I had already told you exactly the information you would've wanted to find (see below). ...also, as was discussed tangentially in this thread in the intervening posts, that particular set of commands, piped together, is not the most efficient way to use the `find` command in linux/unix. (you're essentially telling linux to find everything, then send the list of everything through the pipe to the grep command, which will sort through and only display the items with the word 'mcalendar' in them -- it's better form, and more efficient to simply tell the find command to only find items with the word 'mcalendar' in them, which is the invocation I suggested [find / -name mcalendar])

I also specified exactly what the file was called, and where it was located: ~/.mPIM/mcalendar.db

(that means that, in your home directory, there's a directory called ".mPIM", and inside there you'll find a file called "mcalendar.db". Inside that file, you'll find your mcalendar information. if you were synced to the wrong calendar before, just erase that file, and next time you start mcalendar, it'll create a new (empty) one. Then (assuming you've already corrected the configuration so that it is now pointing to your preferred google calendar), simply choose "synchro" from the menu, and the new mcalendar.db will be filled with the information from the calendar you're synchronized with on google. :)

i installed mcalendar , was messing around with it a bit, now it will not open...ive uninstalled and reinstalled it twice, the only thing i think i could have done was on the working day times, i cleared both fields. any ideas? and , when it is working , is there any way to only have it display 12 hour time across the entire application?

briand 2008-12-22 21:10

Re: mCalendar

munky261 --

If you've uninstalled/reinstalled it, then you've already removed the program components and replaced them... it's possible, I suppose, that there's some corruption in the user data that is causing the erratic behavior (failure to open). Try deleting the mcalendar.db file in your /home/user/.mPIM/ directory, and see if mcalendar will start up after that. If so, you should be able to re-populate your events in the newly created mcalendar.db by synchronizing with Google Calendar from the main menu...

My month view is always empty even though my events are visible on the week and daily view. Also when i press the clock icon button, that view is blank. Is this becasue I cannot get the sync progress bar to move past 80% ?

I think there are still missing features that have to be implemented. Nothing to worry about, just be patient.

Re: mCalendar

when are we gonna get that whole month calendar view? also, is there any way to make it use 12 hour clock across the whole application, i find 24hr time annoying as hell. also, is the possibility to choose the alarm tone, or an mp3 for an alarm going to be worked in... the tone quites playing after a very short time without pressing anything ive found. and, the date seems to get cut off due to the buttons at the top.

p.s. deleting the .db file did work , thanks!

Hi,
Please help with something.
Some time ago I have installed mCalendar and synchronised with Google.
After abt 2 months have decided to uninstall it.
To my surprise the alarms keep on going off even after uninstalling the software and manualy delleting the database as per instructions in this thread.
I can't understand what I'm doing wrong....
Is there a second database to be delleted?
Please help!!!!

I can't help you but I'll second the request for information. I've had several alarms go off at midnight for all day events over the past month or so. I did research where they were stored but couldn't find the answer. Now I have to mute the tablet at night manually.

thanks,
Frank

Re: mCalendar

My problem is not only that the alarms go off, but also this process keeps the screen on until the battery is totally drained (unless I see it and stop the alarms)
So instead of getting 10 days/6 hours of battery, now I'm getting 1 night and that's all as in the morning the alrams go off.

Any help out there?!?!

I wouldn't be surprised if the task of alarms was passed on to another application. Have you checked to see if the alarms are set in the time function? If they are remove them.

I did check the system alarms. Clock, alarm, alarms and found none. So either I have no more or they are not there.

They are not there any more, but the alarms continue to go off.

I have even re-flash my N810 , restored applications (minus mCalendar) and the alarms are still going off.
Any ideas?

Check /etc/cron.daily. There will be a file named "apt" which I believe triggers checking for updates. Examine any other files as one of them may be the source of your problem.

No other files present in my /etc/cron.daily directory. Nice thought though.

Maemo doesn't use cron. It uses alarmd.

The data for this is stored in /var/lib/alarmd, including the settings for triggering the auto-update manager, and mCalendar alarms.

Can we then remove an <object> from /var/lib/alarmd/alarm_queue.xml to remove that alarm event? Woul we also have to edit next_alarm_time and next_alarm_mode?

You could, but you shouldn't. Use the API - with appropriate bindings for your language of choice:

so then, how do they go about doing that?

If you know XML, I've previously hacked entries out of /var/lib/alarmd/alarm_queue.xml. You probably should then set an alarm in the near future in Clock to update next-alarm-time and ensure other data structures haven't lost any integrity.

qwerty12 2009-01-08 17:57

Re: mCalendar

If you want to remove entries from alarmd safely, without knowing xml, install alarmtool (use dpkg -i to install) and open the file /var/lib/alarmd/alarm_queue.xml and look at the cookie number that refers to the alarmd entry you want removed and then just alarmtool -r <cookie number corresponding to alarmd entry you want removed>
