[Canola] Won't start up?
Running a 770 with 2007HE - 4.2007.46-3 (which was installed last night after installing 2008HE and then giving up with it!)
I installed Canola2 last night from the app manager last night, and it just won't start up - no error, just does, well, nothing. Any suggestions? I was using it previously on 2006 without any (major) problems. |
Re: Won't start up?
Clon : please can you run canola using xterm with -vvv argument to see what's the error message?
Did you change the repositories to be the BORA ones? if not it will not work :/ Marcelo |
Re: Won't start up?
I'm sure I've tried it with both sets of repositories - initially following the instructions on the canola site, then with the standard repositories.
I'll double check over it first, and then run it from the command line. |
Re: Won't start up?
Installation over installation is trouble for certain :) this generates incompatible components, make sure always to use canola-cleanup between trials.
Thanks, waiting for your report from command line. Marcelo |

Same problem: Canola won't start.
I flashed SU-18_2007HACKER_4.2008.7-1_PR_F5_MR0_ARM (just the rootfs and kernel bits) on my N770. Using the bora repos installed 2.0.0~beta9-maemo1 without problems. Also installed canola2-lastfm-plugin and canola2-upnp-plugin. I'm using 64MB of my 2GB RS-MMC as a swapfile Running canola -vvv from xterm produces the following: Code:
~ $ canola -vvvstrace output attached |
Re: Won't start up?
Hi! it will take alittle bit longer for us to help(vacations time) but we will see what is probably is the cause of this. But with the arrival of diablo we will drop the support for the 770

Re: Won't start up?
Hey guys, complete n00b here, I've followed all installation guides i can find, but I have not been able to get Canola to launch. Here's what I get when I launch from xterm with canola -vvv. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Code:
~ $ canola -vvv |
Re: Won't start up?
I have the exact same error after installing Canola on my N810. Is there some missing dependencies?
My version of Maemo is 4.2008.30-2 (Chinook). |
Re: Won't start up?
After making sure that the distribution was set correctly to "chinook" in the catalogs (from Apps manager), I've reinstalled python 2.5 framework, then I've reinstalled Canola2.
I am now able to launch it from the Xterm with "canola -vvv" :) but, it is still not launching from the menu ... In the log I still have some errors: Code:

Re: Won't start up?
Now, I found out why Canola couldn't launch from the menu. There were permission issues on the /home/user/.canola folder. I deleted it and run canola again and it worked.
I'm still not getting the video icon showing nor the UPnP "Media Servers" icon and still get errors from the plugin manager. Any idea why? Thanks |
