Sorry for raising such an old thread. I encountered the same problem. In my case there was some incompatibility between libxpm4 and openbox. I had to use apt-get -f remove openbox to deinstall openbox (was kind of tricky). Then I could finally install libxpm4.

I've tried installing in redpill mode, both via terminal and the deb link and still incompatible :(
