Re: Roadrunner alerts You about speed cameras
What about an option to display a large semi-transparent figure over the top of the ovi maps screen? That way, you can still see the maps and the speed cam warning will be hard to miss too... :D

Re: Roadrunner alerts You about speed cameras
I can't seem to find an option to enable a sound when a speed cam is approaching. My n900 just vibrates...
I've thought about a few improvements : -Instead of displaying the distance remaining to the speedcam, a 5 step status bar could be displayed on the upper side of the screen. 5 dots lighting green then red when very close. Just like in Need for speed hot pursuit when the police car is closing... 1 ooooo (idle) 2 oo0oo *bip* 3 o000o 4 00000 *bipbip* 5 00000 *bibibip* + blinking Do'nt get me wrong, tho ! i dont encourage that kind of crazy driving like in the game ;), it's just that icons speak more to me than distance in meters, which are a bit imprecise, because of the delay due to the gps, and because the radar coordinates are often not very precise either) Another idea would be, if the speed limitation of each radar can be obtained, the lights lighting green if your speed stays under the limitation, and lighting red when you are speeding. I second the idea of displaying a big icon of the speed limitation, like a round sign circled in red with the speed limit displayed in the middle. Last but not least, the data displayed on the screen at the moment (gps coordinates, radar name, etc.) is quite unreadable when driving, so its better not to display anything or display it bigger. Again i want to thank Tahitibob ! This is a great project, and i hope you are looking into continuing it =) Merci m'sieur ! |

gpx I have a fresh build supporting asc and csv as import format. I will publish it as soon i can test it. There will not be more improvements soon, because I'm working on the successor of qypy. |

Re: Roadrunner alerts You about speed cameras
hey there,
installed the newest roadrunner .... really nice to see the options for mph and select time to camera. still a major issue for me is if i i am using ovi maps the way when you come into alert distance of a camera roadrunner takes over the screeen totally then when i have gone past the camera it doesnt revert back to maps but stays on roadrunners front screen. if this issue could be resolved it would be great also if i have media player playing music i dont hear an audio notification. keep up the great work mate :) |

Re: Roadrunner alerts You about speed cameras

Re: Roadrunner alerts You about speed cameras
I don't seem to be able to download speed cameras. When I try, I get an error message saying:
Code:
Error when opening zip file /var/tmp/tmpyVW61froadrunner/radars.zip.I have tried removing all of /var/tmp/*roadrunner as well as ~/.radars.db but it makes no difference. |
Re: Roadrunner alerts You about speed cameras
ahhhh, saw the update and thought it might have been transparancy option and revert back to previously open app after alert option :(
hopefully in a future update *fingers crossed* |
Re: Roadrunner alerts You about speed cameras
The link for automatically download is down :
http://www.alertegps.com/down_file_z....zip&log=False Maybe it is definitive, or not. |
Re: Roadrunner alerts You about speed cameras
I downloaded and installed roadrunner, however; I can't download speed cameras. When i click the download button I get an error message:-
"Error when opening .zip file /var/tmp/tmpE0mV1Mroadrunner/radars.zip" This is on my Nokia N900. Any help? |

Re: Roadrunner alerts You about speed cameras
I'm getting similar error message too - Error when opening .zip file.....
Tried using the link on alertegps and it's not working either. (http 500 internal server error) on my N900 I've found 4 tmoxxxxxxroadrunner folders in var/tmp Was going to try to unzip the file manually but a) not sure which folder... b) not sure where to uinzip to c) not sure what command to use unzip isn't present and uz fails saying gzip: invalid magic tar: short read Afraid I'm a windows programmer who occasionally has to use unix so I'm pushing the boundaries of my knowledge already to have got to this point. Anyone got any suggestions? |
Re: Roadrunner alerts You about speed cameras
Do not use the download menu, IT DOES NOT WORK
|
Re: Roadrunner alerts You about speed cameras
Oops...sorry totally misread that previous post. Thought it was the link we needed to get the download.
Have just downloaded the free google earth kmz file from http://www.scdb.info roadrunner is currently importing that file. Progress bar working nicely - can see why it was requested by earlier posters. Looking forward to trying the app out on the way home tonight. Thanks for all your efforts on the app. |

Re: Roadrunner alerts You about speed cameras

Either way, can anyone offer links to downloads of UK speedcamera databases? cheers |

Re: Roadrunner alerts You about speed cameras

|
Re: Roadrunner alerts You about speed cameras
Hi,
Ive downloaded the Roadrunner programme onto my phone, where and how do I install UK speed camera locations into the programme? |
Re: Roadrunner alerts You about speed cameras
wat about malaysia??? is it available??
|
Re: Roadrunner alerts You about speed cameras
@ Barts and Kev
I believe you need to download poi files of the ov2, gpx, etc. extension from sites such as www.gps-waypoints.net or any of the ones mentioned in the previous posts. After downloading the files onto your phone you need to extract them if they are.zip files and import them using roadrunner. That should be it.... I may be wrong as I haven't actually had a chance to do it. It would help if you actually read the previous posts before posting in this thread. I'm sure you could have figured it out yourself. |

I just signed up here, its 4£ for lifetime membership.
At least I found what I was after and the import into Roadrunner works great. http://www.gps-data-team.com To get the files I did: Country, Type of POI, Country Level, Garmin POI GPX |
Re: Roadrunner alerts You about speed cameras
I downloaded a set of asc files from navifriends and merged them by cat to one big asc file. It seems to import but the import takes very long for 5600 Pois. Has someone tested this wiht the ascs from Navifriends?
Have I to import the asc every time I want to use Roadrunner? Otherwise, where is the database it stores the imported asc into? Thanks in advance. |
