My N800's Bluetooth sees nothing.

I bought an iGo Stowaway Ultra-Slim Keyboard and tried to pair it with my N800 but I can't get it to discover any BT devices at all since I updated to Diablo.

I have 2 BT enabled phones (MotoRazr2 V8 and a E815) , and a Motorola H350 BT headset that I can get to pair with each other just fine, but not with my N800. The Razr2 sees and pairs with the keyboard just like everyone has said it is suppose to with the N800, so I know it works, but when I follow the same steps with the N800, it sees nothing. Not the headset, or the phones, or the keyboard.

At one time, before I updated to OS2008 I did get it to recognize my brother's Sony Ericson cell phone, but I didn't really have time to mess with it then. Now I can't get it to see anything. In fact each time I tap on Bluetooth in the control panel, I always have to re-check the box next to 'Bluetooth on:' and 'Visible:', because each time I click on OK and select Bluetooth again, it is un-checked again. I don't remember it doing that before.

I looked all over the forums to see if there was some other way the Bluetooth had to be enabled but as far as I can tell, nobody has a problem with it discovering the devices. It was getting it to accept the code, which I think I can figure out if I could get that far, because I had no problem pairing the keyboard with the Razr2.

It just seems like my BT is disabled in my N800. Any suggestions?

Did you stop any services with the services control panel applet?

Nope. I checked all the services and everything is checked and running except for Brightness-permission, and I'm guessing that's because I have Advanced-backlight installed.

I also re-flashed Diablo last night and reloaded most of my apps. to make sure it wasn't a glitch when I installed 4.2008.24-14. That was still a little problematic for me, (newbie to Linux) but I got it all ok. Just the blue tooth doesn't seem to enable. I haven't seen the BT icon light up once since I upgraded.

Man, this really has me baffled. I re-flashed Diablo 4.2008.24-14 again, but before I did the back-up restore, I tried my Bluetooth Keyboard first thinking maybe my settings were the problem. Still no dice.

It's like the bluetooth is not working anymore. It worked before I upgraded to Diablo but not now, since I actually have a need for it.

I thought of downgrading to OS2007 again but other people don't seem to have any problems with their BT recognizing devices on OS2008.

What am I doing, or not doing wrong???

OK, there's a couple things I figured out. Maybe someone out there can help me. I noticed that when I go to the control panel and click on 'Bluetooth', and then check the box to turn on the Bluetooth, I do NOT get the Bluetooth icon up in my status bar.

Also, when I click on 'Devices' and then click on 'New', I do NOT get a connection wizard window that helps walk me through the steps of finding and pairing any BT devices. In fact, nothing shows up in that window at all.

I also notice that the processor barely flickers one more bar of activity when hitting those buttons in my 'Load Applet'. No spikes or signs of heavy CPU usage.

Hmm... that's really bizarre... and reflashing hasn't helped the problem?

Have you tried re-downloading the firmware image?

Re: My N800's Bluetooth sees nothing.

My NIT software update wizard automatically downloads the newest most up to date version each time I flash the new OS.

It seems like the drivers to use the Bluetooth might be missing or corrupt but aren't they part of the OS? Is there a chance I can update just that particular driver? (BT driver)

The bluetooth drivers aren't a part of the OS, but they should be a part of the firmware...

Sorry I can't be of more help :/

Re: My N800's Bluetooth sees nothing.

Well after going back and forth with a service rep from Nokia, I finally gave up and just sent it in for warranty repair since I was assured I would get it back with EVERYTHING functioning. I guess I should have done this a long time ago because it also had the common problem of constantly rebooting if I ever shut it off. Not every time, but about 90%, and that was a REAL annoyance! It looks like the update to fix that might never come out too.

Thanks for the help though!

OK! I got my NIT back and I feel like I am finally getting the chance to enjoy the N800 Internet tablet experience. The bluetooth works with just about every portable device I have. (like it was suppose to) The whole thing just seems to work better. In fact I am typing this out on my NIT and BT keyboard. I can also transfer pictures from my cell phone without even having to pick it up.

My only gripe now is the fack that Nokia Service Center kept my OEM Nokia box, sending me this replacement in a USPS box for video cassette. GRRRRR

Still much better!!!
