Re: Mobile Office For OS 2008
Still nobody interested in looking into either Ted or SIAG Office?
Just to clarify: I have no idea if these are portable, let alone hildonizeable, but they seem like nice, lightweight and useful applications. |
Re: Mobile Office For OS 2008
Ted doesn't compile on first try ;)
Compiles on second, doesn't link. Compiled, testing... Starts, but can't open anything. Will investigate tomorrow though, 'cause its 2:20 AM here and i should work tomorrow too. :) |

Re: Mobile Office For OS 2008
For me its not so much about editing or creating on the tablet but opening and viewing from an email attachment... Basically the same thing I can do on my Treo but with 2x the screen area.

Re: Mobile Office For OS 2008
'Ted' is a Motif application, but there's a Gtk+ version in the works.. presumably that's the one Bundyo is working with. Web site says this version is not complete yet though.

Re: Mobile Office For OS 2008
Yeah, it compiles and runs at least :)

Re: Mobile Office For OS 2008
I tried to install a guest operating system for your benefit but I had to stop the download because my internet connection was to slow and would have taken all day. From what I have read the applications from guest operating system are very slow and not very good. I also found that the software can mess up your display and cause havoc with your internet tablet. After all this I am going to have to reflash my tablet!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Re: Mobile Office For OS 2008
I am sorry you have had problems. Are you sure you need reflashing? Qole's deb package can be uninstalled without adverse effects.
What happened to your tablet? I am willing to help if I can. EDIT: I measured approx time from the moment I invoke a chrooted word processor to the moment it's ready for working. On my tablet, abiword needs 13 seconds, OOwrite 98 seconds! But after this apparently infinite wait, it's functional enough. |
Re: Mobile Office For OS 2008
The Select connection and any pop up display is shoved to the upper left corner. So I am just going to reflash It doesn't take to long. I hate mucking with my tablet.

Re: Mobile Office For OS 2008
If you want you can refrain from reflashing, this thing is very easy to fix. Wait one minute for an explanation...
EDIT: I had to find the exact Qole's post. You need to have the package "becomeroot" or an equivalent way to issue commands as root. Open a terminal, become yourself root, then give the command "cp /etc/osso-af-init/matchbox.defs.orig /etc/osso-af-init/matchbox.defs" Reboot, you're done. |
