N810 sounds awesome - if I could get one?!
Where on this green Earth does one actually buy a Nokia N810??
I live in Winnipeg, MB, Canada. But I'm on the road right now in Minneapolis and I can't find a single one of these things from here to home inclusive?! Are these devices some prank played by manufacturers, stores and some very sick people on the internet? It's a good thing the N810 squarely beats the iPod Touch or I'd have just given up and bought one of those by now! ;) All the internet stores I've searched so far show "no stock", this is both for USA and Canada. If anybody can help me locate one of these sooner rather than later, I'd be most appreciative. I was hoping to try one out before actually buying - in spite of my own certainty the N810 is easily the best PDA-like device on the market today. I'm looking forward to responses, but I've really got to voice some concern over how Nokia markets these devices. For the price of a crippled Palm/PocketPC PDA, the N810s over double them in functionality and power. But at this rate, they will never penetrate the market even half as pathetically as Palm did! Especially if Nokia continues to use the cell-phone "let the kiosk sell it" ideal for a product that obviously cannot spur a crippling contract agreement. Anyway, help me find my N810! Thanks all and reply quickly! I am in Minneapolis right now and heading back to Winnipeg tomorrow. Let's get one of these in my hands. I would literally buy one of these if a guy went up and down the halls of my hotel selling them right now... |

One word: Ebay

What's the reliability so far of getting a brand new (not at all opened) one on EBay -- not to mention not getting ripped off?
Any sellers who are known to be reliable? |

What about Compusa?

Re: N810 sounds awesome - if I could get one?!
I can't really do online ordering as I have nowhere to send it to at this hour...
I'll keep my eyes open - $299 is awesome and I really wish I could take advantage of that. |
Re: N810 sounds awesome - if I could get one?!
I don't know if it's a good idea recommending this device to someone who doesn't want to do an online search to find it :)
If you think that's a lot of work, anything slightly more complicated than the basic configuration will probably be impossible to accomplish ;-) |

I've been using and programming in Linux since before it was a buzzword :P I can order online, but if I do, I may as well do it in Canada. I'm looking for a retailer somewhere close to me while I'm in the United States to see if I can score one sooner. Nothing too complicated in understanding that. |
Re: N810 sounds awesome - if I could get one?!
Sorry for the sarcasm. It seems like it's a bit complex as a consumer device so in-store stock is pretty spotty. Just check the websites of the popular brick retail stores. If they've got it on their website, call about in store availability. Good luck!

Re: N810 sounds awesome - if I could get one?!
I passed through Fargo today and have decided to spend the night in Grand Forks before making the quick dash back home.
Best Buy in Fargo is hardly an electronics store, but more a leftover of the last two generations of just about anything! LOL I think the rep there thought I was making the device up as he was nearly shocked when his search of other stores' stock actually turned a hit for the model number! ;) Sadly, none available nearby and above that, none available for the price I paid. Here in Grand Forks, I asked at a Wal Mart just for a lark and the guy proceeded to tell me that "Cell phones are overtaking PDAs big time." I had to have a bit of a laugh and I did tell him that would never happen so long as telecom companies continue to behave the way they do. Obviously that was a lost cause discussion. After making my initial posts, a fellow Winnipegger sent me a message recommending a really great Canadian source for the N810. The price came to about $395CAD with shipping costs included. I gave my usual phone call to the seller and had a chat with him for a few minutes, made sure it wasn't a refurb or any other type of switchup. The order is placed and I eagerly look forward to joining the cutting edge again with what is clearly a dream device. I don't understand the portable devices industry when products like this exist... |
