alpha-blended full-screen virtual keyboard possible?
it occurs to me that the on-screen qwerty keyboard on the n800 could be made easier to use if it were full-screen, and if it were alpha blended you could still see what was underneath!
is this insane or inspired? |
Re: alpha-blended full-screen virtual keyboard
Insane. :) Unfortunately applications can't be made transparent (at least now :)).

Re: alpha-blended full-screen virtual keyboard
when i have tried putting a partially transparent window on top of another before, i always end up having to tune the blending so low to read the front most stuff, that i end up with the background being unreadable...

Re: alpha-blended full-screen virtual keyboard
I think there are good way around that, like having the font outlined with a different color or making the background less translucent closer to the characters.
A keyboard like that could be designed with multiple layouts to space the characters out more. Like a full keyboard, alpha, numpad, etc, with the modes faded out around the current one (eg by default you have alpha, and click a faded box to the right to access the numpad). Blah, I'll stop trying to explain what's in my head, but I support the option of a translucent keyboard :) |
Re: alpha-blended full-screen virtual keyboard
I think everyone supports the option, though some have expressed scepticism that it would be a good full replacement in other discussions of this...

Put a question mark at the end of your thread titles if you aren't announcing! Arrrgh
