Remake of my site Tabletos.org
Ok tabletOS.org started off as a webOS I was tring to reformat to fit and run good on the Nokia Tablets. It did not turn out well and the site has had nothing on it for a while. I stumbled across a program today that I put on on tabletos.org today that is a web organizer that keeps your, Links, Notes, To-Do, Reminders, Contacts, Files, RSS Feeds, and alot more all in one place. Includes Public Blogs and Public Link/File Share. I think I might become a good PIM style thing for the Tablets atleast for the people who are always online by Phone/Wifi. Its all PHP so it should run at a good speed I havn't tested on my tablet yet going todo it tonight when I get home. Give it a try and let me know what you guys thinks.

Re: Remake of my site Tabletos.org
Nice find!!
Just had a quick play via my N810 using the demo login from the main site (Yours was pretty empty :)) Switching tabs is pretty quick, but way too much side-to-side scrolling! Wonder how easy it would be to optimize the code. Although saying that, I just noticed it's actually not too bad when enabling Fit width to view. Thanks, you just found a use for my VPS! :D |
Re: Remake of my site Tabletos.org
I plan on redoing it and have several rows of tabs once I get on my tablet and see how it looks on there. I also plan on doing some other modifications to it this week. I havn't really had to to add anything to the demo login yet. Feel free to play with it and add random stuff to it if you want.

Re: Remake of my site Tabletos.org
Interesting idea, and it may become useful when it's fully working.
For now, it seems to have no provision for uploading a RSS OPML file, rather than adding feeds individually. It would more useful if bookmarks were imported in their file structure, too. Also the clock is running about two hours and eight minutes behind! I have to change my local time from GMT+1 to GMT-1 to get it almost right! If you can fix these, and allow room for users to adjust the pages to suit their needs easily, you could have a real useful site here. Well done for trying to achieve this and good luck with it! |
Re: Remake of my site Tabletos.org
Great start.
Can't wait to view the finished product. |
Re: Remake of my site Tabletos.org
Well this is a script that I got from someone not sure if I will be able to add all those features my self I will work on them and also ask the creator about adding them.
Also what do you mean by allowing users to edit pages to suit there needs. The Home Page section can be changed simular to the way you can move things around on igoogle under the settings area. |
Re: Remake of my site Tabletos.org
I added a flash games section please let me know how they play on the tablet alot of them are quiz based games that should do ok since you don't need speed. Also I redid the top bar should look better on tablet. I have contacted the creator of the script about adding import of OPML and import of bookmarks. If you have any other feature requests let me know.
Edit: I checked the import feature on the bookmarks and it kept the structure when I imported bookmarks from internet explorer. Also do you guys think it would be better to have 2versions one formatted to work better on tablets and one better for PC? Some Content 2 interfaces. |
Re: Remake of my site Tabletos.org
Did some more playing with this thing today I added an HTML editor not sure how good it will run on tablets but it might be cool.

Re: Remake of my site Tabletos.org
Site might look a little strange for a little bit this weekend I'm going a big rewrite of the code. Lots of changes!
|
Re: Remake of my site Tabletos.org
Did a big redo the the site over the weekend. Take a loot and let me know what you think.

Re: Remake of my site Tabletos.org
Well. If it's meant to be used with tablets than it's epic fail :(
1) Mouse over. 2) Too much dead space (Like green and white borders) The idea is great, I can help to work it on :) |
Re: Remake of my site Tabletos.org
I'm looking for a few people to help we with the look and the features of tabletos.org, anyone who knows php, html, or javascript please let me know if you want to help. Also if you have any ideas on the setup or new features let me know also. I want to grow this so it become a much better Web App. It would also be cool if we could make a program that runs on the n810 to pull the information from my database on the web but runs on the tablet. So if there are any Programmers out there that are interested in working on this with me please message me.
All the data is stored in a Mysql database and I think it would be simple to pull the links, contacts and other information out of the database and onto the tablet so it will load faster there, and be formatted better for the tablets. |
Re: Remake of my site Tabletos.org
Actually this is interesting if you can import and export data (using e.g. iCal format).
But, I wonder, is there a program for *NIX which can be installed and used remotely using HTTP protocol? So basically, a program which provides a website like you made, but then running on my own server? Because IMO this data is my property and not Google's or Microsoft's or anyone else. I'd trust my ISP if they provided this functionality, but besides that... |
Re: Remake of my site Tabletos.org
If you had a web server with php/mysql I could send you the files when I'm done if you wanted to run a single user version on your own web server. But my version is secure. I'm also going to be working on a Application that runs on the Tablets so you don't have to go thru the web browser to access information on tablets.
At this time it doesn't allow you to import iCal data but it does import/export Links. It also allows for Quick Add of Links by a shortcut found under the help section. iCal import would be something I would love to add but I haven’t messed with that kind of thing before. I have created a Garage Project and would like anyone interested in helping request to be a developer there. I have someone helping with some design work now but I need anyone who knows php, python, or just willing to help with layout to help out. I also made a new Mobile Version of the site last night. http://mobile.tabletos.org it is geared to accessing the information on your Cell Phone. Its very striped down used only to view your information like, Notes, Reminders, Links, and Tasks. I will add more features to the Mobile version if I get some request to. |
Re: Remake of my site Tabletos.org
Awesome :) then, one also evades dependence (e.g. your site goes down), and can implement other aspects independently (e.g. HTTPS). Maybe you could release the sourcode of the website? If you're interested, that is. If it is possible to import and export data (OpenSync and/or iCal) this potentially fills the need for PIM on NIT.

Re: Remake of my site Tabletos.org
Like I said it can't import iCal yet but if someone is interested in working on that I can give the source to them. I'm still working on some bugs, but I will consider releasing the source once I'm done. I want to find someone to someone to write me a App for the Tablet before I release the code. I'm considering paying someone for the job. I havn't decided yet if I will do that or try and learn to do it my self yet. Only reason I havn't goon https is the extra cost of the certificate and cost of a dedicated IP for the tabletos.org domain.

Re: Remake of my site Tabletos.org
Be leave it or not I decided that well the layout and look of TabletOS.org was well ugly so I was looking at the layout of several PIM programs and decided that instead of designing tabletOS.org to look like a website to make it look more like a program so that’s how I came up with the new layout. If you maximize the browser it doesn't even feel like your using a web browser at all. I should say I haven’t tested the layout on my tablet yet since I'm still at work just thought I would go ahead and post about it.
Here is a Screenshot of it running on my work computer full screen. I'm logged into the Demo Account background and coloring on right side of screen is customizable after you register as well as layout of your start pages. http://www.andrewblck.com/Stuff/tabletos.JPG |
Re: Remake of my site Tabletos.org
This is a great idea; I'll add it to my bookmarks and check it often.
