Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
Hi all,
Well, it seems I've a rather uncommon request with this one :p Couldn't find anything about that. To put it in a nutshell, I lost interest in my N800 and was considering selling it. Until I recently set up a hometheater PC and now I'm trying to turn my ITT into a remote for my multimedia player (web based, so far). I do not have a keyboard on this box and it is sometimes annoying. As I do not want to buy a keyboard that would be barely used, it would be really cool if I could use the N800 as a bluetooth keyboard (a kind of application I would launch whenever needed). Did any one of you hear of such thing? Is it feasible, or just dumb/pointless/silly? Thanks a lot! |

I tried following the instructions here, but without luck. Am i missing something? |
Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
Dunno; I haven't tried. But I had indeed heard of such a thing, it's feasible, and it's not dumb/pointless/silly. But it's not really all that useful for me, so I haven't messed with it. As the latest version looks to be for Bora, I wouldn't expect it to work without some effort.

Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
hae you considerd something like irreco?
|
Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
It would be great to see something like BlueRemote, the PalmOS app. That emulates a mouse as well as a keyboard.
|
Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
Thanks ! That's a start for sure.
I'll contact the guy, maybe he will have some advice to make it work on Diablo. I'll keep you posted. |
Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
1 install vnc server or enable rdesktop server on your media player,
2 use vncviewer or rdesktop client on tablet. 3 profit! |
Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
Hmm, it would be useful for me for in class presentations (control laptop from n800).
|
Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
I think a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse emulation solves different problems than VNC-type remote screen control software, so both have their place.

Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
Hi,
I'm working in a port of ReMoko [1] for the ITT, I have a exam next week, so the first version only will be available by the end of the month :(. [1] - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_eSvEOGaJc |
Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
THAT would be VERY cool. I'll be waiting expectantly!

Hi,
here is a video demonstration of n810 acting like a touchpad/keyboard: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pEoaCVgygg In the next week I will release the first version of the application:). |

Looks excellent, looking forward to it. Any chance of a 770 version too?

Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
Cool, I have been looking forward to this for a long time :)
Any chance this will work with a PS3? My friend was looking for a way to connect a wireless keyboard to his, and it would be cool to show off! |
Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
If the PS3 works with a standard BT keyboard, this should work.
(BTW, VDVsx, here's another user looking forward to the release!) |
Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
I see an office prank tsunami forthcoming... :-)
|
Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
would it also work as a keyboard for an S60 phone? there's an option to connect to BT-keyboards on it. would be cool for text messages.
|
Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
It says it uses the Bluetooth HID profile and I cannot see the S60 phone not using it :)
|
Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
it didn't work with xkbd-bthid when i tried some months ago; that's why i'm wondering. still, this could have been a problem with xkbd-bthid rather than with my phone. curious to see what we'll get here... ;)
|
Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
I don't think xkbd-bthid has worked for anyone on a tablet.
|
Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
xkbd-bthid was rather limited due to only supporting a subset of the BT HID specification; as I recall, it would work on Linux (which supported either that basic version, or the full version) but not on Windows (which only supported the full version). Since this works with Windows, I think it's fairly safe to assume it'll work with anything.
Guess we'll find out, though. Oh, and Faheem: :p it worked for me, once, way back when... (OS2007) |
Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
Fair enough Benson :p
Hehe, I'll probably be able to replace my Sony Ericsson with this (the "remote control" feature of SE phones is proper hid :)) |

Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
I too am really looking forward to a first release of this. I was intending to use my old 770 as a VNC or rdesktop client to control my multimedia living room computer, but this would be even better!

Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
@VDVsx
Not trying to pressure you...:D Any word? Thanks |
Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
There are midterms now, so I am guessing he is busy with them (as are many). He said end of month, so give him time...
|
Re: Using the N8x0 AS a bluetooth keyboard
