Well, the E61 battery, with presumably the same cell, works great and delivers over twice the stock battery life in an N800, if that helps. :)

craves1, the Mugen battery kit seems to be unavailable at the moment, so you're going to have to prod your cover supplier to get those custom covers made!

The manufacturer of the metal cover assures me that they have it right now and will be sending me the final cover this week. It has taken much longer that they originally said and I am sure it has hurt the interest in this project. But for those who has already purchased it I am hearing thing that will make me continue.
so keep sending the email if you still want one to cgraves256@optonline.net

Thanks

I appreciate your desire to get the design right. Thanks for the update.

...I'm so happy this is coming to light. Thanks also for the update.

I like the idea of the regular sd card as they are cheaper and are much higher in capacity but, I am not so sure if I want the custom battery cover that is needed for it to be on the N810. I am interested though.

If you buy the mod and the metal case you might as well also invest in the Mugen battery (eten.hu has 'em in stock again on 25 nov). I did this, and while it is quite an investment in the device (compared to e.g. a new Pandora or in 2009 the newer NIT) it does prolong the lifetime of the device.

Unfortunately I also just bought a microSD 8 GB, but oh well, mistakes happen.

I keep the original battery loaded at 40% to prolong it, and to have a reserve battery.

So, I am interested in buying the SD mod kit with the metal cover (in 1 time to cut the S&H costs) and once I have both will write my review here.

I always thought... it is better to completely drain the battery as often as you can, then recharge completely, to keep it at its maximal capacity. Am I mistaken ?

Yes, you are mistaken.. that would work with some older metal hydrid batteries, but it's completely wrong for lithium-ion or lithium-polymer batteries. Every deep discharge will reduce the capacity and lifetime of the battery. Instead, try to top it up as soon as you get the chance.

(The above applies to "cool" devices like cellphones and internet tablets. Laptops have other problems because they're much hotter inside.)

craves1, just wanted to confirm that I'm still interested in a hacker's version of the full-SD mod. Whatever it takes to make it all fit under the original case (taking apart the SD card and removing the plastic, soldering it directly to your adapter without a socket, etc).
